Cedar Bend Golf Course Tin Cup Tournament Results

First place gross shots, Jeff and Justin Johnson, 65; Second place gross, Alfonso and Dewey Powers III, 68.

First place net shots, John and Lucas Vanderlip, 53; Second place net, Judy Hulburt and Sharon Guinn, 56.

Brookings-Harbor Little League All-Stars drop two in playoffs

The Brookings-Harbor Little League All-Star team lost two games last weekend at the district tournament in Medford.

After jumping out to an 8-0 lead in the first game against Grants Pass National, BHLL lost 20-10 in five innings. Gold Beach’s Peyton Amentrout led the way for BHLL with two doubles.

BHLL dropped their second playoff game to South Medford, 18-1, ending their playoff hopes. 

“Im proud of all of them,” said manager Jason Testa. “Hopefully they learned a valuable lesson in teamwork, sportsmanship and the work needed to compete at that level.”

Beat the Heat tournament ends today

The 2014 Beat the Heat girls high school basketball tournament ends today at Brookings-Harbor High School.

Several games are on the schedule beginning with Sandy vs. Coquille at 9 a.m. and ending with BHHS vs. Phoenix at 4 p.m. Game locations are at the BHHS gym or Kalmiopsis gym. Contact 541-469-2108 for more information.

Claveran Classic Golf Tourament at Salmon Run

The 2014 Claveran Classic golf tournament was held at Salmon Run golf course on June 21 and raised nearly $4,000 for BHHS golf and baseball teams. Results as follows:

Low Gross OTF — Calvin Maready, 71, 1st; James Haban, 74, 2nd. Low Net OTF — Bob Stone, 65, 1st.

1st Flight (low net) — Zach Lorenz, 1st; Steve Robinson, 2nd; Brian Carr, 3rd. 2nd Flight (low net) — Rich Taylor, 1st; Curtis Wohlgemuth, 2nd; Gary Knight, 3rd. 

First place Team winner — Maready, Bob Sarina, Jeff Mitchell, Haban, Taylor, net 190.

Long drive — 1st flight winner, Dave Hodges. 2nd flight winner — Brad Bunnell.

Closest to pin (1st/2nd flight) —Hole 4 - Ed Murdock, 9’4”; Tamara Lee, 12’8”. Hole 7 — Steve Robinson, 10.5”; Bill Smyth, 5’11”. Hole 13 — Sarina, 6’; Jack Warren, 20’7”. Hole 15 — Robinson, 10.6”; Don Jackson, 2’3”.
