The Brookings-Harbor High School girls soccer team advanced further in the OSAA 4A playoffs than any other girls soccer team has since the OSAA went to a six division format but Head Coach Fernando Villa has plans for more.
“It’s quite an accomplishment but at the same time you want to keep going and going,” Villa said. “We’re not here to get past the second round or the first round, we’re here to go to the state finals and we’ll keep working at it.”
The girls squad ended their season with a record of 8-1-1 in Far West League play and 11-2-2 overall. The Lady Bruins took second place in the Far West League and made it to the second round of the playoffs.
“It was an excellent season,” Villa said. “They improved quite a bit. I’ve very proud of the way they played.”
Villa announced the players who were named to Far West League All-League Teams. Those athletes included First Team selections Crystal Rodriguez, Karlie Gonzalez and Jade Heredia; Second Team selections Siena Worthey, Molly Joyce and Iva Hart and Honorable Mention selections Hannah Goergen and Drew Farmer.
The Bruins also handed out varsity letters to the players, including: Brenna Clarke, Gonzalez, Rodriquez, Heredia, Worthey, Joyce, Hart, Goergen, Farmer, Vanessa Hernandez, Bailey Neilson, Hanna Leonard, Christina Munoz, Francesca Farr, Hannah Baron, Mimi Fernandez and Jamie Macken.
