Are you game to wander three and a half miles up the Chetco river on a lovely summer day?
If you are, then you're in for a treat! What awaits you through the wrought iron gate is one of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses on the Oregon Coast.
Never played golf? Fear not, the environs are happy, friendly, and anxious to introduce you to a wonderfully challenging pastime.
Women's golf is in full swing and on any Thursday afternoon you will be certain to bump into golfers of any size and description anxious to ply their wares on the challenging course of Salmon Run.
Try nine holes or let it all hang out on eighteen. Meet new friends at Brookings' beautiful course, or come on your own; there is no doubt you will be welcomed.
Salmon Run Ladies Club meets each Thursday in the spring/summer days beginning at 8:30 a.m. sharp.
The club is a great place to mingle, chat, enjoy muffins and coffee and the clubhouse offers a very welcoming hand to those who enjoy the game or who would like to try it out.
By 9 a.m. you will be invited to hop into a waiting cart, and shown the various sites that make this course unique, yet playable.
Women golfers, whether beginners, late bloomers or low handicappers, will find a friendly space to test their skills.
Thursdays are busy times at the club, checking scores, noting the "play of the day," or browsing the golf wear in the pro shop, which gives members or visitors a chance to check the latest styles.
Need new balls, shoes, jackets, visors or clubs?
The clubhouse personnel will be more than happy to assist.
On the first Thursday of each month during the spring/summer days, Salmon Run Ladies Club holds their monthly meeting before tee off.
The monthly meetings are a good time to catch up on the news of the club and to hear of upcoming golfing events.
Salmon Run ladies enjoy participating in away events with clubs all along the Oregon Coast.
The club's traveling team shares with members dates, times, and places of upcoming tournaments.
They have chances to play at other venues, meet old and new friends and, on occasion, bring home fun awards and trophies.
One of the highlights of the women's golfing season is the All Club Tournament (ACT) held toward the end of the season at a designated Oregon Coast course.
The event is hosted by the previous year's winning club team and this year's venue will be at Cedar Bend Golf Course on Cedar Valley Road in Gold Beach.
Salmon Run Ladies Club hosts their very own tournament in August.
August 15, 16, and 17 mark the days of the Silver Salmon Golf Tournament.
Invitations are sent to ladies clubs along the Oregon Coast and beyond.
The turnout since the first Silver Salmon event has been most successful and Salmon Run has welcomed over 100 players who have enjoyed the event year after year.
For more information on the Salmon Run Ladies Club, drop by Salmon Run Golf Course any Thursday or call the course at (541) 469-4888.
