Gymnastics by Design is holding a fund raising event in hopes to raise enough money to send these 14 girls to seven different meets across the state this Fall.
The Gymnastics by Design gymnastics team is hosting a fundraising spaghetti dinner and silent auction from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at the Chetco Grange Hall in Harbor.
Tickets for the event are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for youths 12 and younger.
The gymnasts will be doing live demonstrations and there will be more than 40 local companies donating items for the auction.
Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the gymnastics team and the associated costs of attending meets, purchasing gear and for USAG memberships.
“Please come to our spaghetti feed and help these strong, determined young ladies raise the money they need to attend all the gymnastic meets,” said Kathleen Pearson, who works with the team, via e-mail. “In doing so, you are not only meeting an immediate financial need, but are also enabling them to continue on their path of learning these valuable life skills that only gymnastics can teach.”
The team, 14 girls who hail from various parts of the Oregon Coast, plans to compete in five meets this fall and up to seven if they qualify for state meets. For the team to attend and compete this season, approximately $750 per athlete needs to be raised.
“We have a goal of raising $10,000 for this season’s meets,” said Pearson. “These girls are learning these life skills through gymnastics and gaining quiet confidence through hard work and dedication. Their goal is to attend competitions in the Fall of this year and qualify for the State Championships.”
