|Clean sweep at home for Bruin basketball|

It was a clean sweep Friday night for the Bruin basketball teams, with boys and girls varsity and JV squads easily defeating the visiting Douglas Trojans.
The Bruin boys varsity squad took command early in the first quarter, scoring 16 points to the Trojans 6. The Bruins kept the pressure on, scoring 23 points to the Trojans’ 8, bringing the half-time score to 39-14.
The Bruins stumbled slightly in the third quarter, scoring 13 points and giving up 15 points to the Trojans. The Trojan’s push was short-lived in the fourth quarter, when the Bruins regained control of the floor and notched 17 points compared to the Trojans’ 12.
The final score was 69-41.
Top scorers for the Bruins were Dexter Vaughn with 17, Justin Murray with 14, and Ronnie Manley with 12.
In addition to several key 3-pointers, the Bruins made 12 of 16 free throws.
In JV action, the Bruin boys basketball team handily defeated the Trojans 67-46.
The Bruin girls varsity charged the floor early, scoring 17 points and keeping the Trojans to 4 points. The Bruin pressure continued in the second quarter, scoring 12 points to the Trojans 8, bringing the half-time score to 29-12.
The Trojans toughened up in the third and fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Bruins from winning 49-27.
In JV action, the Bruin girls team defeated the Trojans 41-27.
Next week the Bruins get a bye on Tuesday, playing Siuslaw in Florence on Thursday.
