BHHS soccer co-captain David Joyce shoots on goal during the Bruins 11-1 victory at Marshfield Tuesday.
The Brookings-Harbor High School boys soccer team kept it perfect Tuesday with an 11-1 victory over the Pirates of Marshfield.
The Bruins’ David Daniels scored the first goal in less than three minutes and there was no looking back for the boys.
Daniels’ goal was one of three he scored in the game.
“It feels really good,” he said of the hat trick. “Being able to help out and stay on top of our game is just really good stuff.”
Daniels was joined by Wyatt Aldrich (3 goals), David Joyce (2), Nels Johnson (2), and Alex Anaya for the 11 goals in the win.
The Bruins will avoid the OSAA 4A play-in scenarios and advance directly to the round-of-16 playoff bracket which is scheduled to begin Nov. 5.
Girls win 5-1
It was a slow first half for the Lady Bruins soccer team as they reached the end of the first 40 minutes without scoring a goal.
A stiff half-time talk from Head Coach Fernando Villa and a quick, early goal from defender Sonia Haro turned things around for the Lady Bruins and they won the game 5-1.
“We got a little yelled at,” sophomore Brenna Clarke said, “but I think as soon as Sonia scored the goal it turned up our enthusiasm.”
Others putting the ball in the net included Clarke, Hanna Leonard, and Siena Worthey with 2.
The Lady Bruins will host the third-place team from the Skyline League in a play-in game sometime next week. The team and the date have not yet been determined.
