After another long season of pushing physical endurance to the limit, the Brooking-Harbor Cross County Team enjoyed a moment of relaxation at their annual awards dinner on Thursday, Nov. 13.
The event gave Head Coach Terry Axel a chance to thank all his runners for their dedication and effort and to bestow the honors his athletes had worked so diligently to earn.
The league acknowledged the performances of three BHHS runners. Ally Manley was given the coveted 1st-Team All-Conference title for her work this season a season that included a 17th-place finish at the district meet in Eugene. Nicole Ledford and Gage Northrup received 2nd-Team awards for their contributions to the Bruin team.
Axel also had some team awards to hand out.
For the girls' team Rachel Carrillo was named most inspirational, Roxanne Gothard, most improved, and Nicole Ledford earned the Most Valuable Player award.
For the boys, Ray Mazyck was acknowledged as the most improved, Javin Fleshman as the most inspirational, and Gage Northrup took home the Most Valuable Player title.
With the season concluded, Axel said he's sad it's over.
"It's a great group of kids," he said. "It's the best aspect of my job, hanging out with these kids."
"It was a great year," he said.
