After a decade, Brookings is again hosting Little League All-Stars in tournament play this week with 23 teams competing from Medford, Central Point, Illinois Valley, Gold Valley, Grants Pass and Brookings. The games begins at 9 a.m. today (June 28) at Bud Cross Park, at Ransom and Third streets, and will continue through July 4. Boys and one girl from ages 9 to 14 willshow their skills to find out who will go on to compete in state competition. Thetop team of 11-12 year olds has the chance to go to the Little League WorldSeries. Brookings Little League fundraising efforts on Sunday, June 29, will include a can drive at Ray's Food Place and a car wash at Washington Mutual, both at the corner of Chetco Ave. and Fifth Street. The local teams and theircoaches are: 9-10 year olds Manager Dave Freeman Coach Chris Hart Players: Alexander Bevan, Alec Darger, Jess Fitzhugh, Dave Freeman Jr., Ishtegeagrasi Gallegos, Shaine Graham, Iva Hart, Steven Kleespies, Christian Kramer, Nicholas Nishioka, and Aaron Shaw. 10-11 year olds Manager Tim Aldrich Coach Bruce Flowers Players: Wyatt Aldrich, Denny Bench, Gregory Britt-Hart, Brandon Chandler, Connor Eldridge, Dustin Carter, (Gold Beach)Tony Childress, Casey Cook, Trevor Evans, Garret Litterell,(Gold Beach) Matthew Sanders and Daniel Teasley. 11-12 year olds Manager Clay Vaughn Coach Ron Manley Players; Bradley Austin, Trent Beavan, Chandler Dodd, Isaac Ehlers, Darrell Hopper, Rick Kreger, Ronnie Manley, Alec McBride, Robert McDonough, Justin Murray, and Mikey Penland.
