“First and foremost, we hit the ball well,” Head Coach Steve Bonde said. “We only had two strikeouts all night. We hit a lot of powerful line drives; they just went to the shortstop and third baseman.”
The Bruins were on the road in Crescent City taking on the Lady Warriors at Del Norte High School and dropped their road game 3-6.
“We should have won,” Bonde said. “We played really well and then had six errors that cost us the game.”
Hannah Goergen pitched a complete six-inning game with six strikeouts, and also had two RBIs to help her cause, according to Bonde.
“She hit her spots really well tonight,” he said.
Another bright star for the game was Jessica Yock who had a successful bunt RBI, according to Bonde.
“She laid down a beautiful bunt,” he explained. “I know she would have made it even if the pitcher hadn’t thrown the ball away.”
The Warriors were able to score four runs on Bruin errors and Bonde felt that they really capitalized on the errors.
Bonde isn’t overly concerned with the number of errors by his squad.
“If we can keep the weather good and stay out on the field, we should be doing OK for league.”
The Lady Bruins host Coquille today at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader and then begin league play hosting Douglas on Tuesday.
