The 13 members of the club who were able to make the event began their trip at Nook Bar and floated to Second Bridge where they were treated to a barbecue lunch provided by the parent group that supports the club.
According to Pauley Boynton, the parents provided the lunch as an incentive to the group to continue in their consistent dedication to achieving their goals of being drug free.
As part of membership in the club, each student has committed to remaining drug free, throughout the year.
Each has signed a contract to be drug tested randomly, at least once a month.
All of the club members who pass their summer drug tests will be rewarded with a trip to the Oregon Ducks football team’s home opening game at Autzen Stadium against Arkansas State.
The club is part of the Atlas and Athena anti-drug program that the athletic department received a scholarship to institute.
“As the BHHS Atlas-Athena program kicks off this fall,” Boynton said, “these athletes are great examples of how BHHS can work together to build a stronger student body.”
