APPANAITIS HITS THIRD REGIONAL QUALIFYING MARK

Inger Appanaitis, a senior at the University of Nevada, Reno and a 2003 graduate of Brookings-Harbor High School, recorded her third regional qualifying mark of the year with a second place throw of 155-06 in the discus at the Aggie Twilight at University of California, Davis last Saturday.

Appanaitis also took first place in the shot put with a distance of 43-11.25.

Already this year, Appanaitis has hit regional qualifying marks in the javelin and hammer throw.

On April 19, Appanaitis qualified in the hammer throw with a toss of 183-07 at the VS Athletics Beach Invitational.

Appanaitis also holds the top mark in the javelin in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) with her qualifying throw of 163-08 at the Stanford Invitational on April 4.

The next meet for Appanaitis and her Wolfpack teammates will be the WAC Outdoor Championships in Boise, Idaho Thursday through Saturday, May 15-17.

Appanaitis will then compete in the West Regionals at Cal-State Northridge on May 30-31.
