Ten goals for the Lady Bruins of Brookings-Harbor, zero for the Lady Trojans of Douglas. It can be difficult to find motivation in such a lopsided game, but for the Brookings-Harbor High School girls soccer team, it wasn’t hard at all.
“It was one of those games where you just go out and have fun and let the tension go,” Head Coach Fernando Villa said. “They passed the ball well and they scored. From what I could see, everybody had fun.”
Sophomore Hanna Leonard and freshman Siena Worthey each had three goals for the hat tricks while seniors Francesca Farr and Jade Heredia each had two goals each.
The Lady Bruins play Saturday against the Lady Warriors of Del Norte.
It was a slow start for the Brookings-Harbor High School boys soccer team as they disposed of the Douglas Trojans, 3-0, on Thursday, but Head Coach Gabriel Anaya expected it.
“I see this every year,” he explained. “Normally after we play North Bend, we come out with less intensity for the next game. We still played well, we had a good game, our intensity just wasn’t there today.”
The Bruins advance to 10-0 with the win and have already defeated each of the teams they will face in the remainder of the regular season.
Junior Fernando Villa scored two of the Bruins’ goals and Wyatt Aldrich scored the final goal.
The Bruins play at 3 p.m. on Thursday at Sutherlin.
