Set Free His Way
This letter is written out of love. I love the hungry, hurting, homeless on America ’s Wild Rivers Coast. I am deeply troubled by the closing of His Haven of Hope because we no longer have a place to care for women and children in Brookings and I cannot stay silent any longer. I know that God has called me to be the executive director of the Outreach Gospel Mission and has not removed that calling.
My plea is to the community so that they may plead to the board of directors of the Outreach Gospel Mission and is made at the request of many of the people of our community. Under 12 years of His anointing, God allowed the mission to prosper in every way. I have tried to always put God first in my life and in the decisions I made as the director. It seemed to work as God blessed the ministry.
When I resigned Dec. 1, 2009, I prayed that the board would run the mission in a way that would glorify God and serve the community in a bigger and better way each year in the future as it has in the past. That has not happened.
In nine months under their management they cited that the mission would go bankrupt if it did not close His Haven of Hope. I did not see a plea for support. I have seen no fund raising activities. No town meetings to discuss the problem. Just a decision to close and a date for the women and children to be no longer allowed to have a safe home in Brookings. They are still paying the mortgage and have staff staying there, why can’t they help the women that really need it? People stop me everyday and ask me what I am going to do. This letter is what I can do.
My qualifications: 12 years of wonderful service bringing more each year to serve our community, hundreds of hours of training on how to run a mission including fund raising, compliance with IRS regulations, program development, management, networking with other executives and financial accountability. God has called me and Rescue ministry is in my blood.
If you believe that God has called me to run the Outreach Gospel Mission, please take the time to write a letter to Board of Directors, Outreach Gospel Mission, PO Box 993, Brookings, OR 97415. Please send me a copy at Set Free His Way, PO Box 1026, Brookings, OR 97415. We need to realize that no matter what happens they are still the board of directors and they do not need to comply with our wishes, but I am hoping with enough community support that they would resign allow me to form a new board, and allow me to continue to do what God has called me to do. Immediate plans would open His Haven of Hope for women and children and have meals served from that facility for those that are hungry. Let’s get back to serving the hungry, hurting homeless on America’s Wild Rivers Coast and be able to help those hurting women and children that need a safe place to stay. As you drive by the mission, honk your horn to say that I believe that God has called Chuck to run the Outreach Gospel Mission.
