The forecast for the rest of the summer: Sunny with multiple festivals!
Up next: the Southern Oregon Kite Festival (July19-20) and the Curry County Fair (July 24-27). In August, it’s the Cape Blanco Country Music Festival, Festival of Art at Stout Park, the Pirates of the Pacific festival, Slam’n Salmon Fish Derby and ...
Well, you get the picture.
(By the way, information about these events and much more can easily be accessed by using the Pilot’s new Go Wild Rivers Coast mobile application, which is available for free in both iTunes and Google Play using the scan codes below.)
As you can see, are plenty of fun things to do this summer. That’s good news for the local economy and community morale.
Each festival attracts hundreds and often thousands of visitors to our fair coast, who, in turn, spend money at local shops, motels and restaurants. Additionally, local artisans earn much-needed income selling their products, while local charities gain public awareness and, hopefully, donations.
We tip our hat to the dozens of volunteers, organizations and businesses that make it all happen. And we salute the local sponsors that help to keep admission prices low — or even free.
