Possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, 10:25 a.m.: A 49-year-old man from Harbor was pulled over in the South Coast Center parking lot and the trooper smelled the odor of old, burnt marijuana. The driver admitted having a small amount of marijuana in his glove box. The driver was cited and the marijuana confiscated.
Monday, Sept. 26
Injury vehicle crash, 12:55 p.m.: A 74-year-old Brookings man swerved to miss a deer on Highway 101 on Cape Sebastian hill south of Gold Beach. The pickup went off the roadway, rolled and caught fire. The driver was pulled from the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames. The driver was transported to Curry General Hospital.
Monday, Oct. 3
Failure to return suspended license, 11:35 p.m.: A 29-year-old woman from Eagle Point was pulled over on Highway 101 near Pistol River Loop and found to be driving while suspended. She was cited and released. Her car was towed.
Injury vehicle crash, 12:55 p.m.: A 61-year-old man from Coos Bay was driving on Highway 101 southbound on the Ophir dike when he struck two southbound bicyclists riding on the shoulder. A 30-year-old from Brampton, Ontario, Canada, and 26-year-old from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, were transported to Curry General Hospital for their injuries.
Saturday, Oct. 8
DUII, 2:08 a.m: A 26-year-od Brookings man was spotted weaving, failing to maintain lane of travel when making a left turn and driving a car with a headlight out near the Chetco River bridge. He was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants with a blood alcohol of .11.
Sunday, Oct. 9
DUII, 1:38 a.m.: A 28-year-old Brookings driver was pulled over when he failed to dim his headlights for an oncoming vehicle on Old County Road. He was found to be driving under the influence of intoxicants with blood alcohol of .10 and cited.
Monday, Oct. 10
Non-injury vehicle crash, 10:28 p.m.: A 53-year-old Brookings man operated a vehicle with a suspended license and under the influence of intoxicants on Carpenterville Road near the south Rainbow Rock Road intersection. After crashing his vehicle, he left the scene, but was identified by a witness. Statements were taken by the witness, and from his girlfriend whom he told about the crash. The man was contacted and arrested. His blood alcohol was .14. Police also investigated possible domestic violence inflicted upon his girlfriend.
Friday, Oct. 14
Failure to carry or present driver license, 2:15 p.m.: A 30-year-old Brookings man was recognized as driving with a suspended license near the Chetco River bridge. The driver was cited and the car released to his wife.
