Failure to carry and present driver license, 10:20 a.m.: A 32-year-old Crescent City driver was issued a criminal citation to appear for failing to carry and present a driver’s license after he was stopped for a traffic violation near the McVay Lane weight station. He was also charged with driving without a license, driving uninsured, and following too closely. His vehicle was impounded and towed from the scene.
Disorderly conduct, 2:45 p.m.: A trooper responded to the Port of Brookings Harbor for a report of disorderly conduct by transients with one being pushed into the water. Upon investigating the incident it turned out that one of the men was extremely intoxicated and had fallen into the water while he and the other man were crabbing. He was not visibly injured and refused medical assistance.
Thursday, Nov. 8
Furnishing alcohol to minors, 7:25 a.m.: At about 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, a 22-year-old Brookings man purchased beer at a grocery store, placed the beer in the bed of a pickup occupied and driven by minors, they left in a different vehicle. The trooper investigated the incident by talking to the minors and their parents, then contacted the man to obtain his statement which led to the issuance of a citation.
Failure to carry and present driver license, 4:36 p.m.: A trooper stopped a vehicle that was suspected of eluding the Brookings Police Department, but it turned out to be the wrong vehicle. However, it was discovered that the 26-year-old Brookings driver failed to carry and present a driver license and had no insurance. The driver was issued a citation.
Sunday, Nov. 11
Felony eluding, 11:04 p.m. A 32-year-old driver attempted to elude a marked Oregon State Police car with overhead emergency lights and siren activated on Highway 101 starting at Lower Harbor to Winchuck River Road where the car ultimately crashed. The driver was taken into custody without further incident and lodged at the Curry County Jail. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
