Friday, Feb. 17
Agency assist, 8:40 p.m.: Troopers assisted Gold Beach Police Department, Curry County Sheriff’s Office and the Brookings Police Department K-9 in the apprehension of the occupants of a stolen vehicle involved in a traffic crash at the south end of Gold Beach. The driver and passenger fled the scene but were taken into custody without incident following a search.
Saturday, Feb. 18
DUII, 2:40 a.m.: A 28-year-old Brookings man was cited for driving under the influence of intoxicants on Chetco Avenue.
Non-injury traffic crash, 4:50 p.m.: A crash occurred when a northbound vehicle attempted to pass another vehicle that was making a left turn onto the Lone Ranch Beach access road. The driver attempting to pass was cited for careless driving.
Agency assist, 9:06 p.m.: A trooper assisted Gold Beach Police Department with a stabbing incident at a motel in the 29300 block of Ellensburg Avenue.
DUII, 6:05 p.m.: A convenience store attendant reported an intoxicated man drove to the Harbor location on a riding mower. A trooper and a deputy contacted the 68-year-old man who agreed to walk home. A short time later the man returned and drove away on the northbound shoulder in the dark. He was stopped and arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants, driving while suspended and refusing to take a breath test. He was lodged in the Curry County Jail.
Monday, Feb. 20
Hazard, 3:30 p.m.: A bag of cans was removed from the roadway near the Chetco River bridge.
Tuesday, Feb. 21
False information, 7:30 a.m.: A vehicle was stopped a mile up Jerry’s Flat Road for expired tags. The 36-year-old driver gave false information about insurance and was cited.
Offensive littering, 4:40 p.m.: Transients were reported drinking in the 16300 block of Highway 101 and leaving their garbage behind. The transients were gone when troopers arrived. A panhandler at Highway 101 and South Bank Chetco River Road admitted tipping off the transients to leave because police were coming.
Friday, Feb. 24
Driving while suspended, 8:16 a.m.: A motorist was stopped for using a cell phone while driving. It was found the 44-year-old Brookings man was suspended and he was cited.
Possession of marijuana, 4:12 p.m.: A motorist was stopped on Highway 101 south of Benham Lane for doing 67 mph in a 55 mph zone. The odor of marijuana prompted a search, which resulting in finding a pipe and less than an ounce of marijuana. The 20-year-old driving and 18-year-old passenger, both from Crescent City, were cited.
Saturday, Feb. 25
DUII, 1:30 a.m.: A 57-year-old Brookings man was cited for driving under the influence of intoxicants on Lower Harbor Road.
