DUII, 12:32 p.m.: While a trooper was en route to a crash scene on Highway 101 in Pistol River, a dispatcher informed the officer that the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene. The trooper stopped the vehicle and found the driver to be in a state of panic. After she got out and ran across the highway, she was taken into custody, transported to Curry General Hospital and placed in restraints. Lab results tested positive for amphetamines. The 24-year-old driver from Klamath Falls was cited for driving under the influence of a controlled substance, reckless driving and disorderly conduct.
Sunday, Dec. 19
Injury traffic crash, 1:15 p.m.: Five cars collided during a hailstorm on Highway 101 on the summit of Cape Sebastian. One car lost control and struck a second car. A third car, pulled over to provide assistance, was struck by a fourth car. A fifth car slid off the road attempting to avoid the collision between the third and fourth cars. Five people from two of the cars were transported to Curry General Hospital, one with a broken arm.
Non-injury traffic crash, 11:35 p.m.: The driver of a vehicle lost control when he hit hail on the roadway on Highway 101 a mile north of Thomas Creek. The vehicle crossed the center line and went into the ditch.
