Thursday, Sept. 1

Detention warrant, 7:24 p.m.: A 22-year-old Harbor woman was arrested at her residence.

Friday, Sept. 2

Driving while suspended, 10:50 a.m.: A trooper recognized a driver as having a suspended license and pulled him over near the Chetco River. The driver was cited for driving while suspended and failure to carry and present a driver license. The car was towed.

Traffic crash, 6:15 p.m.: A pickup operated by a 20-year-old Brookings man backed out of a parking stall at a Harbor business. He backed into the door and window of a car driven by a 19-year-old Brookings woman. The woman was transported by Cal-Ore Life Flight for evaluation.

Tuesday, Sept. 6

Warrant service, 2:32 a.m.: A 50-year-old Grants Pass man was contacted on Sporthaven Beach. A records check determined the man was wanted for failure to appear in a Jackson County court. He was transported to Curry County Jail.

Non-injury traffic crash, 10:16 a.m.: A 29-year-old driver of a tractor-trailer rig from Coos Bay braked and swerved to avoid a deer while northbound on Highway 101 near Eggers Road. The driver lost control of the trailer, striking and destroying a section of guardrail. The driver regained control and stopped.

Thursday, Sept. 8

Marijuana, 10 a.m.: Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife employees located a small marijuana garden near the old mill site on Jerry’s Flat Road east of Gold Beach. A total of 14 plants were removed by various law enforcement agencies.

Saturday, Sept. 10

Offensive littering, 8:40 a.m.: On Aug. 13, a game trooper found a butchered beef carcass and assorted garbage thrown over a guardrail along Highway 101 in the Crook Point area. The investigation was concluded and a 30-year-old Brookings man was cited. 

Minor in possession, 9:20 p.m.: A car was pulled over for speeding on Ellensburg Avenue. The 18-year-old driver from Grants Pass had three unopened beers in the car. She was cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol.

Possession of controlled substances, 10:14 p.m.: While assiting a Gold Beach police officer on a traffic stop on Ellensburg Avenue, a trooper saw a meth pipe on a passenger’s bag. During a search, the 57-year-old passenger was found in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and cocaine. The driver was arrested for possession of drugs and misdemeanor driving while suspended. Both were taken to Curry County Jail.

Sunday, Sept. 11

Possession of a controlled substance, 6:40 p.m.: Two Smith River men were found in possession of about 20 recently-harvested marijuana plants during a traffic stop on Highway 101 near the Patterson Memorial Bridge in Gold Beach. The men were transported to Curry County Jail.

Monday, Sept. 12

Possession of mariuana, 2:19 a.m.: A 17-year-old Gold Beach driver was pulled over for driving without headlights, failure to signal lane changes and turns near Gold Beach High School. The driver was found in possession of marijuana and tobacco within 1,000 feet of a school. His 18-year-old passenger was found in possession of marijuana, a pipe containing suspected hash and illegal fireworks. Both were cited.

Wednesday, Sept. 14

Possession of controlled substances, 12:18 p.m.: A 36-year-old driver from Seattle and his 35-year-old passenger from Bellevue, Wash., were found in possession of psylocybin, hash and LSD during a traffic stop at Highway 101 and South Bank Chetco River Road. Both were lodged in the Curry County Jail.

Saturday, Sept. 17

Possession of a controlled substance, 7:59 p.m.: During a traffic stop on Ellensburg Avenue, the trooper detected the faint odor of marijuana. A Gold Beach officer noticed a bottle with marijuana in it and ordered him to give it to the trooper. After a search, a total of four bottles were found amounting to less than an ounce. The 25-year-old driver from Los Angeles was cited and released. Upon further inspection at the police station, the trooper noticed one of the bottles contained hash. The trooper attempted to find the vehicle without success.
