Animal rescue, 2 p.m.: A dog trapped on a cliff at Lone Ranch Beach was rescued by Brookings Fire Rescue personnel.
Warrant service: 9:35 p.m.: An Oregon State Trooper investigated the report of a woman who drove to Thomas Creek Bridge to commit suicide. Upon arrival, the trooper found the car she was driving was not at the scene. He then learned she had returned home. Further investigation found that she had an arrest warrant for grand theft issued from Madera County, Calif. The woman was transported to Curry County Jail.
Sunday, April 29
Burglary, 7:40 a.m.: Because there was no deputy available, a trooper responded to Wedderburn for a burglary. The store owner said a bucket was thrown through a window and the suspect had eaten numerous food items and was asleep on top of a freezer. When contacted, the suspect said he did not recall how he had gotten into the store, but admitted he had been drinking heavily the night before. The man was taken to the Curry County Jail.
Tuesday, May 1
Traffic crash, 1:16 p.m.: A 64-year-old man from McMinnville was traveling northbound on Highway 101 at a work zone on the Chetco River Bridge when a car driven by a 48-year-old Brookings woman that was in front of him slowed for what may have been a hazard. The man was unable to stop and crashed into the rear of the vehicle driven by the woman. The man was cited for following too closely.
Thursday, May 3
Death investigation, 8:35 a.m.: Three troopers responded to the Port of Brookings Harbor to assist in the investigation of a body found in the water near the launch ramps. The investigation was turned over to the Curry County Sheriff’s Office.
DUII, 6:25 p.m.: A 46-year-old driver was stopped for weaving and traveling 61 mph in a 35 mph zone on Highway 101 near Ransom Avenue. The driver showed signs of intoxication and tested. He was cited and released to a family member.
