Thursday, July 5
Shots fired, 1 a.m.: A trooper and a Curry County sheriff’s deputy investigated a report of shots fired and a woman screaming at Cape Blanco State Park campground. Nothing suspicious was found.
Saturday, July 7
Assist outside agency, 10:24 p.m.: Oregon State Police assisted the Curry County Sheriff’s Department on a assault investigation on Aqua Vista Road.
Tuesday, July 10
Probation violation, 10:03 a.m. A trooper saw a male transient whom he knew was not to be around a female transient while they were panhandling at the entrance to South Coast Center. Statements were taken, the two parted ways and a report was forwarded to the Curry County District Attorney’s Office. According to the Curry County Jail Log, the male transient was later booked into the Curry County Jail following an incident at 5 p.m.
Disabled motorist, noon: A trooper assisted a motorist who needed a tow on Highway 101 near milepost 338.
Animal complaint, 12:30 p.m.: A citizen reported a deer on the side of Highway 101 that was badly injured and needed to be dispatched. The deer was deceased when a trooper arrived.
Non-injury vehicle crash, 1:51 p.m.: A trooper was southbound on Highway 101 when he stopped his patrol car, as did the car behind him, for a car turning left into Humbug Mountain State Park, when a 55-year-old motorcyclist from Ridgecrest, Calif, was distracted and couldn’t stop in time. He narrowly missed the vehicle behind the patrol car, dumped the bike and fell off. The bike continued southbound, narrowly missing the patrol car, before hitting a hillside. The motorcyclist was able to ride away from the scene after being warned for not paying attention.
Fight, 5 p.m.: Two troopers and two Curry County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a fight involving several transients in a parking lot in the 16200 block of Highway 101. One male transient was arrested for disorderly conduct.
Wednesday, July 11
Hazard, 1:09 p.m.: A caller reported a commercial truck towing a manufactured home had a flat tire and was flinging rubber onto the highway. The truck was found on the shoulder at the south end of the Chetco River bridge and the driver was changing the tire.
Suspicious person, 3:58 p.m.: A Lower Harbor Road resident reported a man and a woman came knocking on her door and were acting suspicious.
Poaching, 9:30 p.m.: A trooper attempted to locate likely poachers in the Cedar Valley area following a report by a concerned citizen.
Thursday, July 12
Warrant, 9:11 a.m.: The 30-year-old driver of a van from Prineville was driving with a suspended license during a traffic stop. It was also found he had a felony warrant issued by the state Parole Board. He was transported to the Curry County Jail.
Injury vehicle crash, 2 p.m.: An 89-year-old Brookings driver was southbound on the inside lane of Highway 101 when he struck two motorcyclists, both from Sutherlin, who were side by side preparing to turn left onto West Benham Lane. The male rider was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City with unknown injuries. No one else was injured. The 89-year-old driver was cited for careless driving.
Assist motorist, 9:45 p.m.: A trooper assisted a motorist in a disabled motor home near milepost 308 on Highway 101.
