Saturday, Dec. 31 DUII, 2:10 a.m.: A 39-year-old man from Gold Beach was observed driving under the influence of intoxicants on Highway 101 in Harbor, Brookings and Willow and Spruce streets. After failing a field sobriety test and finding marijuana in the vehicle, he was arrested and transported to Brookings Police Department where he refused to provide a breath sample. He was transported to Curry General Hospital for a forced blood draw then lodged in the Curry County Jail on charges of DUII, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, refusing to take a breath test, no driver license, speeding and driving the wrong way on a one-way street. Vehicle crash, 1:05 p.m.: A 69-year-old Brookings woman was westbound on Sunshine Cove Lane when she had a seizure. She drove through a stop sign, crossed Highway 101, jumped the curb and struck a shopping cart restinng against a tree. She was not injured. Sunday, Jan. 1 DUII, 12:20 a.m.: A 34-year-old man from Loyalton, Calif., was arrested after he failed a field sobriety test during a traffic stop on Olsen Lane. He was transported to Brookings Police Department where he refused to provide a breath sample. He was transported to Curry General Hospital for a forced blood draw then lodged in the Curry County Jail on charges of DUII, refusal to take a breath test and failing to drive within his lane. Monday, Jan. 2 Vehicle crash, 5 p.m.: A 43-year-old woman from Bandon was driving a pickup southbound on Highway 101 near Elk River. While making a left turn, she collided with an SUV driven by a 32-year-old driver from Coos Bay who was attempting to pass her. Both vehicles were towed. One driver complained of knee pain but refused treatment.
