Tuesday, Nov. 27
Traffic stop, 7:41 a.m.: A trooper stopped a pickup for failure to display front license plate at Highway 101 and Lower Harbor Road. It turned out the 26-year-old driver had a suspended license and was on felony probation for a drug offense. The man refused to allow the trooper to search his vehicle. His probation officer arrived, at which time he consented to a search to avoid violating his probation. The trooper found less than 1 ounce of marijuana and a glass marijuana pipe in the vehicle. His probation officer took the driver into custody, the trooper cited the man for failure to return a suspended driver license, possession of less an ounce of marijuana and driving while suspended. The trooper also impounded his pickup.
Wednesday, Nov. 28
Disabled motorist, 9:18 p.m.: A trooper stopped to assist a driver whose car had mechanical problems on Highway 101 near milepost 307.
Assist outside agency, 10:25 p.m.: A trooper responded to the 16300 block of Highway 101 to assist Curry County sheriff’s deputies locate a robbery suspect who fled into the woods. The report was that a pedestrian was threatened with a knife in an attempted robbery by another pedestrian.
Suspicious vehicle, 11 p.m.: A trooper contacted four people who were sleeping in a car near the Port of Brookings Harbor launch ramps. The people were warned for trespassing.
Thursday, Nov. 29
Trespassing, midnight: A caller in the 97900 block of Hall Way reported a man came onto his property and was acting strangely. A verbal dispute ensued. The suspect was later contacted in the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue after being stopped by Brookings police units who were attempting to locate his vehicle. The man was told not to return to the Hall Way residence.
Injury traffic crash, 6:12 p.m.: A 60-year-old Harbor woman was driving a pickup northbound on Highway 101 preparing to make a right turn onto Floral Hill Drive when she was struck from behind by a car driven by a 49-year-old woman from Smith River. The impact cause the pickup to spin into the path of a third car driven by a 69-year-old Brookings man. The Smith River woman was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital with injuries. Her car was towed with heavy front end damage.
False report, 10:06 p.m.: A 39-year-old woman from Bandon reported she and a friend were riding bicycles northbound from Brookings to Bandon when a male acquaintance, a 46-year-old Brookings man, pulled up in a vehicle and attacked her by knocking her to the ground and punching her, then stole her cell phone. When she regained consciousness, her friend and their bikes were missing. An investigation over the next several hours revealed the female and the male were in fact together in the vehicle traveling from Brookings to Bandon and they got into a verbal dispute. The female then got out of the vehicle with her belongings and later began flagging vehicles over and asking motorists to call 911.
Saturday, Dec. 1
Assist outside agency, 12:17 a.m.: A trooper responded with a Curry County sheriff’s deputy to a report of a dispute inside a vehicle up Wilson Creek Road. It was found that a man had choked a woman. Police found the man hiding in a ditch and arrested him.
