Saturday, Aug. 6 Injury accident, 12:55 a.m.: A 74-year-old woman from Bandon drove off the shoulder in the Humbug Canyon, striking a rock face and rolling the vehicle. The driver was transported to Curry General Hospital. Tuesday, Aug. 9 False information, 8:35 p.m.: A trooper pulled a vehicle over for having expired tags on Ellensburg Avenue in Gold Beach. The driver said he had insurance. After finding that the driver’s insurance had expired, the driver admitted lying. The driver was cited for giving false information to an officer, driving uninsured and failure to renew registration. The vehicle was impounded. Thursday, Aug. 11 Disorderly conduct, 7:26 p.m.: A trooper responding to a disorderly conduct call at a restaurant spotted the suspect staggering to a nearby bar at the Port of Brookings Harbor. At the bar, the bartender told the man to leave. The trooper also to him to do so, but the man refused. He was escorted out where he began using profanity. The suspect was placed in the back seat of the patrol car, proceeded to kick the door and bang his head on the seat. The 29-year-old Harbor man was transported to Curry County Jail. Friday, Aug. 12 Warrant, 9:40 p.m.: A 22-year-old Brookings man was contacted when entering a bar and a records check found he had a warrant for probation violation. He was arrested and transported to Curry County Jail. Saturday, Aug. 13 DUII, 9:45 p.m.: A 25-year-old Brookings man was found to be driving under the influence of intoxicants on Highway 101 near the Chetco River bridge. After taking a breath test, his car was impounded and he was cited and released. Sunday, Aug. 14 Minors in possession of alcohol, 11:50 p.m.: During a traffic stop on Old County Road the trooper noticed two 16-year-old male passengers appeared to have been drinking. The boys were released to their parents. Thursday, Aug. 18 Assault, 9:47 a.m.: A woman entered the restroom near the O-Dock at the Port of Brookings Harbor, spoke nonsense then attacked another woman who was in there. The attacker claimed she was going to kill herself and headed for the water. Bystanders helped control her until a trooper arrived, who restrained her. The trooper remained on the scene until a deputy arrived. The attacker was transported to Curry General Hospital. Friday, Aug. 19 Non-injury accident, 6:25 p.m.: A 47-year-old driver from Crescent City swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle passing in a no-passing zone near the Coos County line. She lost control of her car and hit the guardrail. DUII, 8:15 p.m.: A trooper pulled a van over for failure to maintain lane of travel on North Bank Chetco River Road near Social Security Bar. When the van pulled over, it went into the ditch. The driver, a 47-year-old Beaverton man, smelled of alcohol and did not answer several time when asked to take a sobriety test. When the driver tried to leave, the trooper pointed a taser at him and ordered him onto the ground, which he complied. He was taken into custody and transported to Curry County Jail. Saturday, Aug. 20 DUII, 2:05 a.m.: A 23-year-old Brookings driver arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants on West Benham Lane near Olsen Lane. Monday, Aug. 22 Reckless driving, 4:02 p.m.: A 62-year-old driver from Albuquerque, N.M., pulled over to the shoulder on Highway 101 near Whaleshead and proceeded to make a U-Turn in front of a trooper. The trooper braked hard and swerved, narrowly missing the car. The driver was pulled over and cited.
