Disturbance, 11:28 p.m.: A trooper backed up a Curry County sheriff’s deputy on a report of a verbal argument followed by a gunshot. Police arrived at the residence in the 92700 block of Silver Butte Road in Port Orford, but were unable to locate any indication of a fight.
Wednesday, July 17
Angling complaint, 2:57 p.m.: An Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife employee contacted Oregon State Police to report an angler landed a wild coho salmon. The salmon was released to ODFW at the Port of Brookings Harbor. OSP cited the angler from Bend.
Thursday, July 18
Commercial fishing complaint, 8:29 a.m.: While checking fish being offloaded, it was found that the commercial fishing vessel Lee Ann had no Oregon commercial license on board. The captain and two crew members from Del Norte County were cited.
Angling complaint, 11:27 a.m.: While checking fisherman arriving at the boat ramp at the Port of Brookings Harbor, a Grants Pass man was found in possession of a wild coho salmon. The fisherman was cited.
Angling complaint, 11:33 a.m.: While seizing the fish caught above, a fish checker advised of another person with a wild coho salmon. The fisherman from Eugene was cited.
Angling complaint, 12:36 p.m.: A trooper contacted a fisherman at the Port of Brookings Harbor launch ramp to check his catch and found he had a wild coho in his possession. The angler from La Grande was cited.
Friday, July 19
Recovered vehicle, 3:40 p.m.: A Ford pickup was found along Highway 101 south of Humbug Mountain that had been reported stolen out of Coos Bay. No one was around and the vehicle was secured. The owner arrived to recover the pickup.
Non-injury traffic crash, 10:32 p.m.: A deer crossed in front of a motorcyclist and was struck and killed on Highway 101 near Nesika Beach. The motorcyclist was not injured by his bike was damaged. The rider was able to “limp” the motorcycle 11 miles to Gold Beach.
Saturday, July 20
Hit and run, 4:04 a.m.: A car was traveling northbound on Highway 101 near Port Orford when it swerved and struck an embankment several times. The driver fled the scene. The vehicle was towed.
Sunday, July 21
Injury traffic crash, 2:52 p.m.: Two motorcyclists from Brookings were southbound on Highway 101 near milepost 318 when they attempted to pass another group of motorcycles in a no-passing zone. The two riders collided with each other, causing them to lose control of their bikes and skid off the roadway. Both were transported to the hospital.
