Non-injury traffic crash, no time listed: A Brookings driver crashed into the guardrail while traveling northbound on Highway 101 near milepost 351. The driver was found to be impaired at the time of the collision and was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless criving and first-degree criminal mischief.

Non-injury traffic crash, 12:34 a.m.: A 26-year-old Brookings man was involved in a traffic crash on Highway 101 near milepost 344. He was found to be inpaired and arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving.
Saturday, Jan. 5
Arrest, no time listed: A Brookings man was arrested at Strahm Storage United in Harbor for fleeing the scene of a traffic crash before police arrived. He was transported to the Curry County Jail on charges of failure to perform the duties of a driver and first-degree criminal mischief.
Tuesday, Jan. 8
Non-injury traffic crash, no time listed: Because there was no deputy on duty, Oregon State Police responded to a crash on Elk River Road. A 33-year-old Gold Beach driver was westbound when he drove off the roadway onto the soft shoulder, lost control and hit a dirt bank on the opposite side of the road. The car came to a rest upside down.
Saturday, Jan. 12
Assault, no time listed: Oregon State Police, Curry County Sheriff’s Department and Port Orford Police Department investigated an assault in the parking lot of Paradise Point State Park where a man was beaten, shot and left at the scene. The man was transported to the hospital and the investigation continues.
Sunday, Jan. 13
Hazard, no time listed: A transient was warned for disorderly conduct after police received several calls that he was pushing a shopping cart down the middle of Highway 101 near milepost 339.
Wednesday, Jan. 16
Traffic stop, no time listed: A trooper smelled marijuana during a traffic stop on Highway 101 near the Rogue River Bridge. The passenger in the vehicle had marijuana on her and a jar of marijuana was found in a diaper bag next to her children. The 23-year-old driver from Gold Beach was cited for having no driver’s license and driving uninsured. The 27-year-old passenger from Gold Beach was cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor. Prescription medication with no label was also seized.
Friday, Jan. 18
Assist outside agency, 2:57 p.m.: A 53-year-old Harbor man was highly intoxicated and nearly passed out on the grass along Shopping Center Avenue across from the post office. The trooper found he was on probation with a no-alcohol clause. He was arrested and placed in the patrol car where he began spitting on the floor. He was charged with probation violation and third-degree criminal mischief.
DUII, 4:33 p.m.: A 24-year-old Grants Pass woman was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants and a controlled substance during a traffic stop near milepost 360 on Highway 101 in Harbor. A 22-year-old male passenger, a transient, was cited for offensive littering after throwing a beer can out the window, and an 18-year-old female passenger, also a transient, was cited for failure to return a suspended license.
Hazard, 5:05 p.m.: Police received a second complaint of a large bull on Highway 101 near milepost 312.
Tuesday, Jan. 22
Vehicle burglary, 8:45 p.m.: A vehicle was parked along Highway 101 near milepost 296 because of a flat tire. The car had a broken window caused by a large rock. While it was parked, someone had broken into it.
Saturday, Jan. 26
Unauthorized departure, 10 p.m.: A 45-year-old Gold Beach man was given a conditional pass from the Curry County Jail to seek medical treatment but failed to return to jail. He was found on Pedrioli Drive, arrested and transported to the jail.
Monday, Jan. 28
Dispute, 5:27 p.m.: A trooper responded to a report of a man and woman in a physical altercation in the 94600 block of Raccon Lane in Ophir. The man, 38, was arrested for harassment. The woman, 59, was cited for harassment.
Traffic crash, 7:34 p.m.: A trooper responded with a sheriff’s deputy to a crash on Cedar Valley Road. A pickup left the roadway, went over the bank, hit a tree and caught fire. Fire personnel were able to extinguish the blaze. The deputy investigated the incident.
Traffic crash, 10:30 p.m.: A truck towing a trailer towing a large generator was northbound on Highway 101 decending the hill from Cape Sebastian when the hitch snapped, breaking the safety chain. The trailer crashed into the ditch and sustained heavy damage and was towed.
Tuesday, Jan. 29
DUII, 11:32 a.m.: A trooper observed a pickup driven by a 42-year-old Brookings man fail to obey a stop sign, drove in the wrong lane and hit the curb pulling into a parking lot at Fifth Street and Chetco Avenue. The driver admitted drinking and failed a field sobriety test. he provided a breath sample at the Brookings Police Station, which determined his blood alcohol was .07, below the legal limit. He was cited for disobeying the stop sign and failure to drive with lane and released.

Abuse of a memorial to the dead, no time listed: Sometime between Sunday, Jan. 27 and the date reported, a Blue Star Memorial Highway Sign was stolen from the Ophir rest area.
