Non-injury vehicle accident, 12:22 a.m.: The Curry County Sheriff’s Office advised Brookings Police Department of an accident near Arch Rock where the drive may be trapped in the vehicle. Cape Ferrelo and Brookings fire departments responded. The driver arrested by Oregon State Police for DUII.
Found property, 1:42 a.m.: 600 block of Old County Road.
Found property, 12:09 p.m.: A tool box was found near Pacific Avenue and Oak Street.
Abandoned vehicle, 12:51 p.m.: A motor home was parked in the 800 block of Ransom Avenue for an extended period of time.
Suspicious conditions, 1:48 p.m.: A caller reported a man was messing with gates and hiding in the trees in Smith River. The call was transferred to the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office.
Found property, 3:47 p.m,: Several items were found by the bus stop near Ray’s Food Place. Items were placed at the Brookings Police Department for safe keeping.
Suspicious conditions, 4:04 p.m.: A purse found in the 1000 block of Chetco Avenue was returned to its owner.
Disorderly conduct, 5:41 p.m.: A fistfight led to two men being arrested and cited for disorderly conduct and warned for criminal trespass in the 500 block of Pacific Avenue.
Suspicious conditions, 7:32 p.m.: An officer checked on an unoccupied vehicle at the Botanical Gardens.
Harassment, 7:34 p.m.: A minor disturbance between family members was reported in the 500 block of Fir Street.
Unknown problem, 7:27 p.m.: A 911 caller hung-up after giving minimal information. There was no answer when police called back. When a deputy arrived in the 15500 block of Cedar Lane, a verbal dispute was taking place between a father and son. The caller was warned for misuse of 911.
Driving complaint, 8:24 p.m.: A motorist advised he was yelled at by an unknown person on a scooter for almost hitting him on Hemlock Street. The caller advised there was no proper lighting on the scooter and was unable to see him and was concerned for the safety of the person on the scooter.
Illegal fireworks, 9:36 p.m.: An officer witnessed illegal fireworks being lit in the distance in the Fifield Street area.
Saturday, Jan 5
Telephone harassment, 12:21 a.m.: A citizen reported harassing phone calls. All parties, including the caller, were counseled on telephonic harassment and all, who were in Brookings and Crescent City, agreed to turn off their phones for the evening.
Lost property, 7:44 a.m.: Brookings area.
Identity theft, 10:14 a.m.: A woman was arrested for identity theft in the 800 block of Chetco Avenue when she presented herself as a local physician when placing a phone order for a prescription.
Found property, 11:01 a.m.: A citizen turned in a bank card found at an ATM in the 300 block of Fifth Street. It has been returned to its owner.
DUII, 12:03 p.m.: A citizen reported a man known to drive intoxicated.
Fire, 2:01 a.m.: Harbor Fire Department responded to the 15700 block of Highway 101.
Probation violation 11:17 p.m.: A man on probation was contacted at Pine Cone Tavern and found to be in violation of his probation by consuming alcohol and frequenting a place that sells alcohol.
Lost property, 5 p.m.: 300 block of Fifth Street.
Sunday, Jan. 6
Suspicious conditions, 12:04 a.m.: 200 block of Wharf Street.
Found property, 8:59 a.m.: A sledgehammer was found near Railroad and Center streets.
Fight, 9:43 a.m.: A verbal dispute was reported on First Street. Parties went their separate ways.
Assault, 12:59 p.m.: 17700 block of Gardner Ridge Road.
Drug information, 1:04 p.m.: An anonymous report was made of a man sitting in his vehicle using drugs at Ransom Avenue and Barbra Lane.
Hit and run, 2:26 p.m.: A man called 911 to ask for information about laws in California and was provided with Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office business number.
Loud noise, 2:29 p.m.: Loud music was being played from a vehicle in the 200 block of Cypress Street.
Criminal trespass, 3:01 p.m.: An officer assisted a citizen with criminal trespass information in the 7100 block of Vista Ridge Drive.
Lost property, 4:59 p.m.: Lost keys, Chetco Avenue.
Hazard, 5:37 p.m.: A citizen reported a transient at on Highway 101 at milepost 361 was being a traffic hazard.
Fight, 6:43 p.m.: A 911 caller in Crescent City was trying to report incident to Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office.
Littering, 8:14 p.m.: A citizen was warned for littering on Wharf Street.
Shots fired, 10:25 p.m.: A citizen in the 95600 block of Cape Ferrelo Road reported having been awakened by 10 to 15 ammo rounds going off.
Minor in possession of liquor, 10:54 p.m.: A dispute in the 200 block of Lilac Lane resulted in a woman being cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol and a man being warned for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. A smoking device was seized and destroyed.
Monday, Jan. 7
Suspicious conditions, 4:29 a.m.: A vehicle parked at a church across from Azalea Park was checked by an officer. It was occupied by the registered owner, a man in the area from Idaho for the mushroom picking season. He reportedly had permission to camp there overnight before driving upriver to the mushroom camp after daylight.
Lost property, 1:05 p.m.: A purse lost in Brookings was located.
Theft, 2:03 p.m.: 800 block of Old County Road.
Suspicious conditions, 4:34 p.m.: A detective assisted the public in Fort Dick.
Menacing, 6:09 p.m.: A young man at Fred Meyer called 911 to report that he was being followed by a store employee. The caller ended up being cited for second-degree theft and menacing, and was banned indefinitely from the store.
Theft, 6:13 p.m.: A chair was stolen in the 200 block of South Hazel Street.
Found property, 7:13 p.m.: 300 block of Fifth Street.
Loud noise, 10:57 p.m.: Citizens warned for loud noise in the 600 block of Chetco Avenue.
Minor in possession of alcohol, 900 block of Hidden Court.
