Tuesday, Dec. 18
Parking violation, 8 a.m.: A caller was concerned about a vehicle parked in a handicapped area without placard in the 300 block of Fifth Street. It turned out it was in the car, just not properly displayed.
Menacing, 10:54 a.m.: A neighbor upset over a fence being built pulled a rifle on the caller in the 00200 block of Winchuck River Road.
Theft, 1:12 p.m.: 300 block of Fifth Street.
Illegal dumping, 2:06 p.m.: An unknown person was dumping bags of leaves on vacant property in the 400 block of Buena Vista Loop.
Driving complaint, 3:01 p.m.: A possible DUII driver was reported on West Benham Lane.
Assist motorist, 5:49 p.m.: A citizen requested traffic control to pull a utility trailer out of the ditch at Dodge Avenue and Parkview Drive.
Overdue subject, 7:40 p.m.: An employee was concerned with another employee being late for work in the 300 block of Fifth Street.
Assist outside agency, 8:33 p.m.: Brookings Police Department units assisted Oregon State Police with a traffic stop that turned into a pursuit on Carpenterville Road. The suspect ditched his truck in a pond and was able to elude officers on foot. The suspect’s identificiation was determined from items left in the vehicle. Oregon State Police will provide report to district attorney for prosecution.
Criminal mischief, 9:45 p.m.: Tires were slashed in the 800 block of Limbaugh Way.
Wednesday, Dec. 19
Shots fired, 7:56 a.m.: A man shot a dog with a pistol and a vehicle behind the dog was hit twice in the 800 block of Pioneer Road. The dog was treated immediately at the vet and sent home. The man was cited and released.
Suspicious conditions, 9:17 a.m.: A resident said a stranger drove into their yard in the 99300 block of Stateline Lane, and left the car there.
Animal complaint, 10:37 a.m.: A business complained that a dog escaped out of the neighbor’s yard and was acting aggressively toward patrons’ going to their appointments at Fern Avenue and Hemlock Street. The dog’s owner was located and was warned for having dogs at large.
Threats, 12:43 p.m.: A waitress in a restaurant in the 900 block of Chetco Avenue was receiving threats from a customer. It turned out it was only intended to be a joke. The customer was counseled on menacing.
Fight, 2:18 p.m.: A verbal dispute was reported between husband and wife in the 97800 block of Court Street.
Unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, 3:20 p.m.: Police recieved a report of the theft of belongings from an unlocked vehicle in 800 block of Pioneer Road.
Threats, 3:59 p.m.: A verbal dispute between two people was reported in the 300 block of Fifth Street.
Fight,5:40 p.m.: A woman reported a physical dispute between her and her daughter in the 800 block of Ransom Avenue.
Tree down, 6:23 p.m.: Marina Heights Loop.
Thursday, Dec. 20
Suspicious conditions, 4:19 a.m.: A resident in the 97900 block of West Benham Lane reported people attempting to break into her home.
Tree down, 6:11 a.m.: A tree fell on a home in the 900 block of Fifth Street causing damage to windows and gutters. Public works was advised to clear the roadway.
Tree down, 6:36 a.m.: South Bank Chetco River Road.
Driving complaint, 1:04 p.m.: Police received a complaint that a motorist was driving below the speed limit and failing to maintain lane on Chetco Avenue. Police found the elderly driver was not intoxicated; however, a request will be sent to the DMV for retesting.
Criminal trespassing, 1:49 p.m.: A manager requested a man be asked to leave the property in the 600 block of Old County Road.
False information, 4:24 p.m.: A girl reported to her parents that she had been kidnapped by two people and they cut her hair off. She later admitted she and a friend had cut their own hair and that they were planning to run away. The girl was counseled about making a false statement.
Littering, 4:33 p.m.: Two men were reported urinating against the wall of a bank in the 700 block of Chetco Avenue.
Hazard, 4:42 p.m.: The signal at Fifth Street and Chetco Avenue was malfunctioning.
Non-injury traffic crash, 5:47 p.m.: A minor fender-bender was reported at Alder and Railroad streets. One driver was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.
Suspicious conditions, 6:31 p.m.: A man was knocking on apartment doors and approaching people in the 600 block of Old County Road.
