Police Log Oct. 30, 2013

Friday, Oct. 25 

Juvenile problem, 8:01 a.m.: 600 block of Easy Street. 

Suspicious conditions, 9:22 a.m.: A pile of clothing was found in a restroom at Bud Cross Park. The owner was located and it was found that the clothing and tools had been taken from his vehicle earlier, but the theft had not yet been reported. 

Assist public, 2:46 p.m.: An officer assisted a citizen with locating his children in the 600 block of Old County Road. 

Harassment, 3:24 p.m.: An officer took a report of bullying in the 16100 block of Highway 101.

Fire, 3:29 p.m.: A caller reported a large fire near Brookings Glass in Harbor. It was a controlled burn putting out lots of smoke.   

Criminal mischief, 3:54 p.m.: An officer took a report of criminal mischief from a person whose bike tires had been popped. 

Criminal mischief, 3:58 p.m.: 17400 block of Tribur Lane. 

Criminal mischief, 5:20 p.m.: Criminal mischief to a sprinkler system at a residence in the 96400 block of Ridgeway Street was reported. 

Burglary, 6:05 p.m.: An officer took a report of a burglary in the 700 block of Pioneer Road that had occurred in an apartment that a citizen was in process of moving from. 

Disorderly conduct, 6:43 p.m.: An adult male was arrested for disorderly conduct and menacing after breaking a bottle in front of a former girlfriend’s residence in the 500 block of Ransom Avenue and pounding on her car and other vehicles, challenging the occupants to fight him. 

Fire, 6:56 p.m.: Multiple 911 calls were received regarding a motor home on fire at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Fifth Street. Upon arrival fire personnel found the vehicle was fully engulfed. The occupants were able to evacuate without any injuries. 

Suspicious conditions, 9:38 p.m.: An adult male transient at the fountain at Fifth Street and Chetco Avenue was loudly shouting obscenities. Officers contacted him and told him to lower his voice. No crime was reported. However, the same person was later told by officers never to return to the Dutch Bros. property. 

Saturday, Oct. 26 

Warrant service, 4:42 a.m.: An adult female transient came into the lobby of Brookings Police Station wanting to turn herself in on a warrant for burglary out of Jackson County. An officer responded and took her into custody. 

Fire, 6:59 a.m.: Harbor Fire stood by at the Oregon/California border at the request of Del Norte Sheriff’s Office due to a structure fire on Elk Valley Road that had their units busy. 

Hazard, 7 a.m.: Chetco Avenue and Fifth Street. 

Warrant service, 9:58 a.m.: An adult male was arrested on a valid warrant in the 600 block of Old County Road and transported to jail. 

Rescue operation, 1:14 p.m.: Fishing vessel ran out of fuel about 1/4 mile out of the harbor. The US Coast Guard responded for the assist. 

Suspicious conditions, 5:51 p.m.: Bridge Street. 

Suspicious conditions, 11:26 p.m.: An adult male was acting “out of it” at the haunted house at Pacific Avenue and Cottage Street was later contacted by police as he was leaving the Pine Cone Tavern with a relative. No crime was committed. 

Loud noise, 11:36 p.m.: A report of a loud party somewhere near Hillside Avenue and Valley Street was keeping a citizen awake. Officers located the party on Pacific Avenue, where an adult man was warned for disorderly conduct. The party was breaking up at the time of contact,. 

Sunday, Oct. 27 

Dispute/fight, 12:08 a.m.: Officers were called to Pine Cone Tavern  for a report of someone punching another person in the face. The victim declined an ambulance and also decided not to pursue charges. He left with a friend in a taxi. 

Suspicious conditions, 1:36 p.m.: Thomas Creek. 

Hit and run, 7:20 p.m.: A shopping cart in was let go into a car in the 300 block of Fifth Street. The parties exchanged information. 

Suspicious conditions, 9:54 p.m.: 100 block of Tanbark Lane. 

Suspicious conditions, 11:57 p.m.: 700 block of Pioneer Road. 

Monday, Oct. 28 

Suspicious conditions, 2:46 a.m.: 97900 block of Shopping Center Avenue. 

Suspicious conditions, 7:08 a.m.: 300 block of South Hazel Street.

Non-injury vehicle accident, 9:05 a.m.: 98800 block of North Bank Chetco River Road.

Theft, 9:28 a.m.: 500 block of Fifth Street. 

Dispute/fight, 9:51 a.m.: 400 block of Fir Street. 

Fire, 1:52 p.m.: Brookings Fire responded to the 400 block of Alder Street. 

Dispute/fight, 2:32 p.m.: 16000 block of Carson Lane. 

Suspicious conditions, 3:02 p.m.: 300 block of Fifth Street. 

Fire, 3:07 p.m.: Harbor Fire responded to 200 block of Kindell Street. 

Criminal trespass, 3:30 p.m.: 300 block of Fifth Street. 

Theft, 3:35 p.m.: 300 block of Fifth Street. 

Hazard, 4:44 p.m.: Arnold Lane and Highway 101. 

Fire, 4:55 p.m.: Brookings Fire responded to Railroad Street. 

Non-injury vehicle accident, 5:43 p.m.: 400 block of Mill Beach Road. 

Theft, 5:10 p.m.: 1000 block of Fifield Street. 

Dispute/fight, 10:26 p.m.: 800 block of Limbaugh Way.
