Friday, May 10
Fire, 1:13 a.m.: IPH Security was able to extinguish a fire in a trash bin in the 97800 block of Shopping Center Avenue before Harbor Fire Department arrived on the scene.
Theft, 11:05 a.m.: 1600 block of Highway 101.
Criminal mischief, 12:59 p.m.: Port of Brookings Harbor.
Found property, 3:20 p.m.: 600 block of Old County Road.
Found property, 3:28 p.m.: West Benham Lane.
Hit and run, 3:30: Brookings area.
Hazard, 4 p.m.: Hassett and Joshua streets.
Loitering, 6:49 p.m. 400 block of Oak Street.
Intoxicated subject, 9:38 p.m.: A caller reported an intoxicated juvenile walking down Fir Street near Azalea Park.
Stalking, 11:29 p.m.: Police are investigating an ongoing stalking issue in the 300 block of Alder Street.
Brookings police made five traffic stops.
Saturday, May 11
Suspicious conditions, 1:04 a.m.: An officer checked a vehicle that had its dome light on at Easy Manor Park. It was unoccupied and secure.
Criminal mischief, 8:22 a.m.: Someone keyed a car door near the handle and near the gas tank in the 900 block of Chetco Avenue.
Solicitation, 9:42 a.m.: A person was warned for solicitation in the 300 block of Fifth Street.
Suspicious conditions, 10:59 a.m.: A man was found camping on a trail near Harris Beach State Park was given a warning for illegal camping.
Found property, 12:30 p.m.: A house key was found on Chetco Avenue.
Forgery/fraud/bad check, 1:09 p.m.: 1000 block of Chetco Avenue.
Dispute/fight, 1:50 p.m.: A man and a woman were reported fighting in Smith River.
Criminal trespass, 2:15 p.m.: A woman was cited for criminal trespass in the 600 block of Railroad Street.
Dispute/fight, 7:22 p.m.: RV park near Port of Brookings Harbor.
Juvenile problem, 7:41 p.m.: 600 block of Old County Road.
Fire, 11:05 p.m.: Brookings Fire Department responded to a report of unattended coals on fire and the blaze was getting larger because the winds were picking up. The fire was being put out by Brookings Fire Department and the homeowner counseled.
Brookings Police made four traffic stops.
Sunday, May 12
Suspicious conditions 3:49 a.m.: A woman in the 16100 block of Highway 101 reported that an unknown intoxicated man was pounding on her door and yelling that he was looking for his shoes. When she told him the police would help him look for his shoes, he left her residence to search elsewhere.
Dispute/fight, 11:31 a.m.: West Hoffeldt Lane.
Vehicle impounded, 11:47 a.m.: A traffic stop resulted in the vehicle being impounded at Chetco Avenue and Frontage Road because the driver had no operator’s license. Passengers left on foot.
Lost property, 2:09 p.m.: A resident in the 17200 block of Mountain Drive lost his ATM card.
Disorderly conduct, 4:17 p.m.: A woman headed back home after causing a minor disturbance at a residence in the 600 block of Spruce Street.
Misuse of 911, 4:48 p.m.: Children playing with a phone called 911. Dispatch spoke to their father, who planned to counsel them on the appropriate use of 911.
Driving complaint, 5:34 p.m.: A silver Porsche was reportedly being driven recklessly southbound on Highway 101 in California. The caller was transferred to California Highway Patrol.
Dispute/fight, 6:28 p.m.: A citizen in the 16300 block of Highway 101 called 911 to report that an unknown woman was harassing him.
Brookings police made 11 traffic stops, and issued several citations.
Monday, May 13
Suspicious conditions, 3:38 a.m.: A neighbor was concerned for the next door resident, whose dogs were howling in the 1300 block of English Court. An officer checked the location and found the residence secure.
Lost property, 11:40 a.m.: A caller reported a wallet was lost in the 97900 block of Shopping Center Avenue.
Dispute/fight, 11:48 a.m.: Three officers responded to a physical dispute in the 500 block of Fern Avenue. Family members were arguing about property.
Possession of drugs, 1:56 p.m.: An 18-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs at the Botanical Garden.
Suspicious conditions, 3:30 p.m.: An officer responded to a report of an elderly couple taking wood chips from Azalea Park. They were gone upon arrival.
Suspicious conditions, 4:41 p.m.: 700 block of Third Street.
Theft, 5:15 p.m.: 16100 block of Highway 101.
Criminal trespass, 7:19 p.m.: 16300 block of Highway 101.
Rescue operation, 7:30 p.m.: Harbor fire units responded to a report of five juveniles stuck on a ledge overhanging the beach near a Holly Lane residence.
Fire, 9:02 p.m.: A Brookings fire unit responded to a report of a fire in the treeline near the North Jetty. He found people gathered around a campfire and assisted them with putting it out.
Assist outside agency, 10:45 p.m.: Because there were no deputies on duty, a Brookings unit was requested as backup for a California Highway Patrol unit that had pursued a vehicle into Oregon and stopped it near Camellia Drive. According to CHP, it was a possible DUII and the focus of an earlier domestic situation. It turned out the driver was not drunk.
