Fire, 12:13 a.m.: Report of approximately 10 unattended fires at Mill Beach. One of the fires spread into the driftwood threatening the treeline under some condos. Brookings Fire Department responded and put out the fire, 1000 block of Wharf Street.
Minor in possession of alcohol, 1:15 p.m.: One adult male subject cited for minor in possession of alcohol by consumption. He was cited and released at location.
Traffic stop, 7:03 a.m.: Driver cited for no operating stats, and no proof of insurance. Passenger warned for failure to wear seat belt; Easy Street and Pioneer Road.
Animal complaint, 8:26 a.m.: Dogs running loose near Brookings-Harbor High School. Officer arrived and found the dogs in the owner’s yard, 600 block of Pioneer Road.
Theft, 10:58 a.m.: 16700 block of Marine Drive.
Found property, 11:32 a.m.: Wallet found at Lone Ranch. It was placed in the lost and found drawer; Highway 101, milepost 351.
Burglary, 11:55 a.m.: 400 block of Arnold Drive.
Juvenile problem, 12:04 p.m.: 500 block of Fern Street.
Hit and run, 1:10 p.m.: 400 block of Arnold Drive.
Juvenile problem, 12:04 p.m.: 500 Fern Street.
Dispute/fight, 4:13 p.m: Domestic dispute. Call transferred to Curry County Sheriff’s office; 95900 block of Sundown Drive.
Fire, 4:15 p.m.: Brush fire, Harbor Fire Department responded and put it out; East Hoffeldt Lane.
Lost property, 5:31 p.m.: Keys lost somewhere along Chetco Avenue. If found, return to Brookings Police Department, so the owner can be contacted, Market Place Avenue, Brookings area.
Water problem, 7:30 p.m.: Public works fixed a water issue; Alder Street.
Criminal trespass, 8:27 p.m.: One male trespassed from a local business; 1100 block of Chetco Avenue.
Parking violation, 8:55 p.m.: Officer made contact with the owner of an illegally parked vehicle. Owner moved the vehicle without issue; 800 block of Pioneer Road.
Non-injury vehicle accident, 11:06 p.m.: Caller reporting he rolled his vehicle into a ditch. Information given to Curry County Sheriff’s office; vehicle was towed at the owner’s expense; Marks Lane and Oceanview Drive.
Intoxicated subject, 11:16 p.m.: Report of an intoxicated male getting ready to leave the parking lot of a tavern. Officers located the vehicle in the parking lot with no one inside. Officer observed a male subject matching the description of the reported person entering a taxi to go home. No crime, 600 block of Chetco Avenue.
Brookings Police made many traffic stops: Failure to carry insurance, no seat belt used, warnings of speeding, and failure to use headlights when required.
Saturday, April 27
DUII, 1:12 a.m.: Underaged male arrested for driving while intoxicated; cited and released to responsible sober driver from Brookings Police Department, Kemp Auto and Highway 101.
Harassment, 8:14 a.m.: 400 block of Smith Drive.
DUII, 7:05 p.m.: Behind 200 block of Marine Drive.
Dispute/fight, 9:06 p.m.: 400 block of Pacific Avenue.

Illegal camping, 1:49 a.m.: Male contacted by officer advised he was waiting for church to start in the morning. A young transient couple also at location was advised to move along; 1200 block of Easy Street.
Field information, 11:44 a.m.: Young male on Mill Beach Road was riding his bike with no helmet and no brakes on his bike, 300 block of Mill Beach Road.
Fire, 12:09 p.m.: Harbor Fire Department responded to 16100 block of West Hoffeldt Lane.
Shots fired, 3:34 p.m.: 96500 block of Dawson Road.
Field information, 4:24 p.m.: Male subject advised of city ordinance for soliciting, 900 block of Chetco Avenue.
Driving complaint, 5:46 p.m.: No south deputy on duty to attempt to locate unsafe driver up North Bank Chetco River Road.
Driving while suspended, 6:34 p.m.: Cited for driving while suspended and given a verbal warning for failure to carry current proof of insurance; Chetco Avenue and Fern Street to Ransom Avenue and Crestwood Place.
Criminal trespass, 8:56 p.m.: Officers responded to the laundromat and trespassed a male transient from location, where he was threatening the owner for locking him out of the building; 1000 block of Chetco Avenue.
Probation violation, 10:49 p.m.: Parties from a verbal family dispute separated for the night. Male was in violation of his probation. Report to be forwarded to the court for charges; 800 block of Pioneer Road.
Brookings Police issued several warnings to citizens for excessive speed.

Monday, April 29
Abandoned vehicle, 12:31 a.m.: Disabled pickup at location was partly in the lane of travel, owner arrived and removed it; Parkview Drive and Ransom Avenue.
Traffic stop, 1:04 a.m.: Verbal warning: Expired registration, curfew violation, failure to carry current proof of insurance; Pacific Avenue and Pioneer Road.
Injury vehicle accident, 5:31 a.m.: Vehicle vs. cow injury traffic crash at location (near McVay Park). Medics and fire responded; 16200 block of Oceanview Drive.
Suspicious conditions, 9:10 a.m.: Business employee reporting a suspicious object. Officer picked it up to hold as a found item; 300 block of Fifth Street.
Animal complaint, 9:21 a.m.: Dog owners reporting their two boxers escaped overnight and are on the loose, 300 block of Spruce Drive.
Safety/traffic hazard, stop sign down. Public works put up temporary until ODOT effected repair; Ransom Avenue and Highway 101.
Disorderly conduct, 11:06 a.m.: Female inside business causing a disturbance was later warned for her behavior; 500 block of Hemlock Street.
Littering, 11:51 a.m.: Two transients with carts at rest area were reported to be making a mess. Officer contacted them. They will be picking it all up; 1600 block of Highway 101.
Animal complaint, 12:21 p.m.: Another report of of the neighborhood deer that is obviously handicapped by an injury but continuing to survive; 600 block of Fifth Street.
Violation of restraining order, 4:04 p.m.: Officer following up on a reported violation of a restraining order; 800 block of Elk Drive.
Lost property, 4:28 p.m.: Lost checkbook out in county; reporting in case someone turns it in. Owner has already been to his bank to report same; 16200 block of Highway 101.
Alarm, 5:36 p.m.: Child at an apartment complex pulled the fire alarm; no fire, 500 block of Railroad Street.
Animal complaint, 8:18 p.m.: Officer spotted a black and white pitbull-type dog with a red harness running at large near Pioneer Road and Oak Street. No one called about this dog; Pioneer Road and Oak Street.
Brookings police were kept busy issuing traffic citations and verbal warnings to citizens.
