Police Log March 13, 2013

Friday, March 8 

Suspicious conditions, 12:23 a.m.: Highway 101. 

Theft, 12:26 a.m.: Police received a report of a group of men taking property from the outside of a business in the 600 block of Railroad Street. The men were located shortly, as well as the property reportedly taken. However, they fled on foot in multiple directions. One man was located in the bushes and arrested for theft and lodged in the Curry County Jail. He also was cited for minor in possession of alcohol. 

Water problem, 1:31 p.m.: Old County Road near Pacific Terrace. 

Non-injury vehicle accident, 2:38 p.m.: 300 block of Fifth Street. 

Harassment, 3:28 p.m.: Ransom and Fern avenues. 

Unauthorized use of a vehicle, 3:34 p.m.: A woman reported her ex-boyfriend took her car without her permission. This occurred in Smith River, but contact was made with both parties in Brookings. The vehicle was returned to the registered owner. 

Child neglect, 5:31 p.m.: A citizen reported two children left alone in a vehicle while the adults went inside a fast food restaurant in the 800 block of Chetco Avenue.

Harassment, 6:07 p.m.: 600 block of Fifth Street. 

Suspicious conditions, 9 p.m.: North Bank Chetco River Road. 

Non-injury vehicle accident, 9:25 p.m.  A fender bender was reported in a parking lot in the 500 block of Fifth Street. 

Dispute/fight, 11:01 p.m.: A caller reported a domestic dispute in Smith River. The call was transferred to the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office. 

Assist public, 11:49 p.m.: Casual contact was made with the driver of a vehicle parked on the side of the road and running with the headlights on at Alder and Railroad streets. The driver had pulled over to use her cell phone and everything was OK.  

Saturday, March 9 

Hit and run, 10:29 a.m.: A vehicle hit a utility pole and left the scene at the rest area. 

Suspicious conditions, 11:47 a.m.: K-9 Kona assisted with a residence check because of a possible burglary in the 1300 block of Ransom Avenue. 

Injury vehicle accident, 12:53 p.m.: 15400 block of Oceanview Drive. 

Dispute/fight, 1:53 p.m.: An ongoing loud, noisy dispute was reported between not-so-neighborly neighbors in the 600 block of Fifth Street. 

Found property, 2:24 p.m.: An abandoned bike was found in the 300 block of Mill Beach Road. 

Theft, 4 p.m.: A theft victim reported he just located some of his stolen property at a pawn shop. 

Juvenile problem, 8:56 p.m.: A juvenile contacted at Azalea Park was playing hide and seek with friends. He was advised of park hours. 

DUII, 9:27 p.m.: A man was arrested for DUII on North Bank Chetco River Road. 

Drive while suspended, 9:27 p.m.: A driver cited for driving while suspended and speed at Chetco Avenue and Parkview Drive. 

Sunday, March 10 

Criminal mischief, 3:42 a.m.: Multiple road cones were thrown all over the road on Hassett Street. 

Animal complaint, 12:03 p.m.: A citizen wanted to speak to someone regarding an injured deer on his property in the 01000 block of Winchuck River Road. He was put in contact with Oregon State Police game trooper. 

Littering,  3:02 p.m.: 600 block of Old County Road. 

Rescue operation, 3:43 p.m.: Brookings Police Department assisted Coast Guard in response to disabled vessel in the ocean. 

Assault, 7:50 p.m.: An adult woman was arrested for assaulting her sister in the 1200 block of Moore Street. 

Animal complaint, 9 p.m.: A resident found an older male chocolate Lab with gray muzzle that appeared to be hard of hearing but friendly in the 500 block of Fir Street. The dog had no collar or tags. The finder could not keep the dog but transported it to the pen for pickup on Monday morning by Curry County Animal Shelter. 

Loud noise, 11:33 p.m.: Officers responded to the complaint of loud party in the 500 block of Fir Street. The tenant agreed to shut it down for the night. 

Monday, March 11

Found property, 5:14 a.m.: A citizen brought in a wallet he found on the beach. Dispatch was unable to locate a published phone number for the Medford resident, so the wallet was placed in lost and found. 

Suspicious conditions, 10:20 a.m.: Park Avenue. 

Criminal mischief, 11:50 a.m.: An adult male took a bicycle wheel from the school. It was unknown if he was the parent of an enrolled student. 

Possession of drugs, 11:54: A parole violation and  possession of drugs was investigated in the 800 block of North Second Street.          

Dispute/fight, 4:09 p.m.:
A citizen reported two people fighting in the 900 block of Chetco Avenue. A man and woman were warned for disorderly conduct. 

Theft, 5:15 p.m.: A woman was cited and released for shoplifting in the 300 block of Fifth Street. 

Bike/skateboard complaint, 5:59 p.m.: Three children were warned for riding bikes in the 300 block of Fifth Street and warned for no helmets. 

Suspicious conditions, 8:23 p.m.: A citizen reported  suspicious vehicles in the 500 block of Fifth Street. 

Suspicious conditions, 8:43 p.m.: 300 block of Fifth Street. 

Found property, 10:37 p.m.: A license plate was found at Social Security Bar.
