Police Log July 3, 2013

Friday, June 28

Fire, 12:43 a.m.: A fire alarm was pulled in the 900 block of Parkview Drive. An employee called to advise there was no emergency. 

Telephone harassment, 10:46 a.m.: A man was making threats to employees at a business in the 300 block of Wharf Street. 

Dispute/fight, 12:09 p.m.: A verbal dispute over money was reported in the 97800 block of Shopping Center Avenue. 

Dispute/fight, 1:10 p.m.: 600 block of Fifth Street. 

Field interview, 2:31 p.m.: A juvenile on a motorized bike in the 400 block of Azalea Park Road was contacted and warned for not wearing a helmet. 

Loud noise, 2:46 p.m.: 400 block of Pacific Avenue. 

Animal complaint, 3:17 p.m.: A white, long-haired Pyrenees dog was missing from the 600 block of Ransom Avenue. It was unknown if the dog was loose or stolen as the gate was open when the caller got home. 

Dispute/fight, 4:46 p.m.: A domestic dispute between a woman and an intoxicated man was reported in the 800 block of Pioneer Road. The man agreed to leave for the evening. 

Fire, 5:36 p.m.: Curry County Sheriff’s Office requested Cape Ferrelo Fire to respond to milepost 351 for a vehicle fire. Cape Ferrelo Fire  was unable to locate any vehicles as reported. 

Fire, 8:11 p.m.: 15 to 25 miles east of Harbor Hills. 

Driving complaint, 8:10 p.m.: California Highway Patrol transferred a driving complaint to Brookings police dispatch. An officer was able to locate the vehicle when it entered city limits, but no unusual driving was observed.

Panhandling, 8:14 p.m.: A male transient was contacted and warned for panhandling in the 300 block of Fifth Street. 

Animal complaint, 9:04 p.m.: An officer located a dog at large at Fern Avenue and Elk Drive. The owners were contacted and the dogs were secured in their yard. 

Driving complaint, 10:20 p.m.: A red hatchback was seen speeding through the Fred Meyer pparking lot and surrounding streets. Officers were unable to locate it. 

Suspicious conditions, 11:50 p.m.: A woman called to advise someone was walking around her home in the 1300 block of English Court. An officer responded and located a female neighbor who was outside using a hose to spray spiders off her porch. 

Saturday, June 29

Animal complaint, 7:54 a.m.: A neighbor’s dog was out again, chasing deer and cats, in the 300 block of Mill Beach Road. 

Driving complaint, 10:53 a.m.: An adult pedestrian called 911 to report speeding traffic on North Bank Chetco River Road. Officers were unable to locate the caller or the speeding vehicles. 

Hazard, 11:35 a.m.: Two children reported to be sitting in the middle of the road were creating a traffic hazard at Ransom Avenue and Fifth Street. 

Information, 11:47 a.m.: Officers spoke to a parent of juveniles that have been involved in criminal mischief incidents in the 800 block of Limbaugh Way. 

Found property, 9:52 a.m.: A Ford key found at Brooke Lane and Third Street was turned into the Brookings police was placed in lost and found. 

Theft, 12:17 p.m.: An Oregon State Police trooper contacted a woman who had taken a tooth from the dead sperm whale near Chetco Point. 

Non-Injury vehicle accident, 1:46 p.m.: A non-injury motorcycle accident was reported at Highway 101 and West Benham Lane. 

Lost property, 2:48 p.m.: A citizen lost a large white empty cooler from the back of his pickup on Highway 101 somewhere between Brookings and Gold Beach.

Bike-skateboard complaint, 3:30 p.m.: Two juveniles at Chetco and Pacific avenues were warned for having no brakes on their bikes and not wearing helmets. 

Dispute/fight, 4:56 p.m.: Corner of Lilac and Memory lanes. 

Telephone harassment, 5:24 p.m.: A camper at Harris Beach State Park reported receiving threatening texts from someone in Texas. 

Found property, 7:59 p.m.: A credit card found in Chase Bank parking lot was turned in to Brookings Police. The owner came to the police department and the card was returned. 

Bike/skateboard complaint, 9:18 p.m.: A juvenile was warned for not wearing a helmet in the skate park. 

DUII, 10:54 p.m.: A man was arrested for DUII in the 600 block of Chetco Avenue. 

Driving complaint, 11:42 p.m.: A driver who was northbound from California was stopped. There was no signs of intoxication, but the driver was tired so he stopped for the night. 

Field interview, 11:56 p.m.: Juveniles on skateboards in the 600 block of Hemlock Street were counseled by an officer for excessive noise and curfew violation. 

Sunday, June 30 

Fire, 12:34 a.m.: A hot electrical outlet in a residence in the 700 block of First Street was checked by Brookings fire. The breakers were turned off and the resident was going to follow up with the landlord and an electrician. 

Dispute/fight, 8:19 a.m.: Two occupants of storage shed were arguing over the contents in the 97700 block of North Bank Chetco River Road. 

Dispute/fight, 9:48 a.m.:A transient was arguing with fundraising volunteers in the 300 block of Fifth Street. 

Criminal trespass, 12:34 p.m.:A transient disturbing church service in the 500 block of Fir Street was told to move on.

Dispute/fight, 1:37 p.m.: An argument between ex-partners was reported in the 800 block of Hassett Street. 

Theft, 3:40 p.m.: An advertising sign has been taken from business in the 900 block of Chetco Avenue. 

Criminal trespass, 4:59 p.m.: A male transient smoking marijuana in front of business  in the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue refused to leave when told to do so. Officers contacted him and told him never to return to that business. Additionally a small amount of marijuana was confiscated. 

Criminal trespass, 5:39 p.m.: An adult male transient refused to leave Fred Meyer and was told never to return to the property. 

Monday, July 1 

Found property, 7:55 a.m.: Items found at the corner of Carpenterville and Cape Ferrelo roads were turned in to police. 

Disorderly conduct, 12:08 p.m.: Fifth Street frontage. 

Lost property, 2:45 p.m.: A person’s wallet was taken from them at Fred Meyer pharmacy when they turned their back for a moment. 

Harassment, 3:03 p.m.: 95700 Garrett Lane. 

Injury vehicle accident, 3:47 p.m.: Highway 101 near milepost 351. 

Dispute/fight , 5 p.m.: Officers counseled parties involved in a dispute in the 400 block of Fern  Avenue. 

Hit and run, 5:24 p.m.: 1100 block of Chetco Avenue. 

Hazard, 6:01 p.m.:500 block of Chetco Avenue. 

Fire, 9:11 p.m.: Brookings Fire Department responded to Marine Drive. 

Criminal mischief, 9:32 p.m.: 1200 block of Ransom Avenue. 

Animal complaint, 11:21 p.m.: A lost German shepherd pup, approximately 8 months old, was reported in the 18500 block of Tetley Road. 

Animal complaint, 11:29 p.m.: Mixed breed golden retriever-type dog “Jake” was running at large on Hassett Street. 

Animal complaint, 11:33 p.m.: A miniature schnauzer-type dog was running on South Bank Chetco River Road, near Highway 101. The finder will keep the dog overnight then transport it to the shelter in Gold Beach if the owner wasn’t located.
