Saturday, July 13
Suspicious conditions, 8:06 a.m.: A citizen reported a transient man wrapped in a hospital blanket contacted her outside a local business asking directions to the bus station. An officer contacted him and determined he was OK. He is reportedly heading to Washington state.
Animal complaint, 10:10 a.m.: Police received a report of an ongoing issue with small golden retriever-type dog getting into traffic on Highway 101 at East Harris Heights. The dog was eventually contained and transported to Curry County Animal Shelter.
Suspicious conditions, 4:10 p.m.: A citizen reported a woman in wheelchair “driving” backward on Highway 101 in Harbor.
Fire, 5:17 p.m.: A fire jumped from a burn barrel onto surrounding grass on Quail Road. Harbor Fire units extinguished the fire.
Suspicious conditions, 5:50 p.m.: A citizen reported a suspicious older vehicle that appeared to be checking mailboxes up Winchuck River Road; local units were given the vehicle description and the information was passed along to Curry County Sheriff’s Office.
Driving with a suspended license, 6:38 p.m.: An adult man was arrested for driving while suspended during a routine traffic stop at Pacific Avenue and Azalea Park Road. He was transported to Curry County Jail.
Burglary, 7:55 p.m.: A possible burglary was reported in the 16900 block of Parkview Drive.
Loud noise, 9:59 p.m.: A citizen who lives near the high school was bothered by the loud bass thumping noise coming from the Relay for Life event. Officers monitored the noise level through the night.
Loud noise, 10:48 p.m.: Officers contacted an employee of Pine Cone Tavern regarding a noise complaint. There was a live band and a full house.
Sunday, July 14
Theft, 12:46 p.m.: The theft of two hubcaps from a citizen’s vehicle occurred while the car was in the Fred Meyer parking lot.
Fire, 2:05 p.m.: Brookings police responded to Chetco Point.
Unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, 2:51 p.m.: A report of a theft from a vehicle parked at Pelican State Beach in California was transferred to Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office.
Found property, 5:07 p.m.: Brookings.
Harassment, 5:17 p.m.: 600 block of Old County Road.
Hazard, 5:27 p.m.: A motorist reported an elderly man in the middle of Highway 101 near Crissey Field State park was a traffic hazard.
Fire, 11:05 p.m.: Harbor Fire and Coos Forest units responded to a report of an unattended fire on Sporthaven Beach.
Monday, July 15
Suspicious conditions, 1:57 a.m.: At 1:40 a.m a citizen driving on Highway 101 north of Brookings witnessed a red meteor trail in the clear night sky. The citizen estimated it was probably hundreds of miles long and was coming in at 30 degrees.
Suspicious conditions, 10:06 a.m.: Ivy Lane.
Suspicious conditions, 10:45 a.m.: A civil matter was reported between neighbors in the 300 block of Maple Street.
Theft, 11:29 a.m.: An officer is investigating a report of a stolen camera on Pine Street.
Non-injury vehicle accident, 1:01 p.m.: A two-vehicle fender bender.
Found property, 1:53 p.m.: Property found at Miller Bar was turned into Brookings police.
Dispute/fight, 2:44 p.m.: An officer warned a woman about physical and telephonic harassment of her ex-husband and his female friend.
Child abuse, 4:43 p.m.: Officer investigated a report of possible child abuse in the 96100 block of Wildwood Lane.
