Friday, Aug. 9
Suspicious conditions, 12:17 a.m.: Officers were unable to locate a suspicious vehicle that had been reported in a neighborhood; 800 block of Jodee Lane.
Loud noise, 12:20 a.m.: Large group of loud kids reportedly in KidTown making a lot of noise and smoking cigarettes. Officer did contact a car full of Crescent City juveniles who said they had just been in the vehicle talking. They left the area to return home; KidTown, Azalea Park.
Assault, 8:08 a.m.: Dispute in county; call transferred to Curry County Sheriff’s Office; 97900 block of Shopping Center Avenue.
Harassment, 10:22 a.m.: Officer responded to a harassment complaint; 200 block of South Hazel Street.
Assist public, 11:57 a.m.: Senior citizen received a call from her grandson saying he is in a Mexican jail and needed her to send money now, but not to tell anyone. She was scared to report this to the police because she thought it would bring harm to her grandson. The officer assisted with confirming this is a scam. She will now contact family members for assurance. Brookings Police is urging all senior citizens to beware of these types of scam calls and not become a victim. These scam artists prey on senior citizens; 15800 block of Sunset Strip.
Suspicious conditions, 12:10 p.m.: Loud booms heard; probably related to the Pirate Festival at the port of Brookings Harbor; Del Norte and Memory lanes.
Animal complaint, 12:15 p.m.: Citizen was concerned for the welfare of a dog which he observed closed up inside a vehicle. Officer found that the dog had water and was not in distress. When the officer checked back later, the dog had been removed from the car; 800 block of Fawn Drive.
Rescue operation, 1:07 p.m.: Citizen reporting small boat possibly in distress off Sporthaven Beach was transferred to U.S. Coast Guard; Sporthaven Beach.
Loud noise, 4:21 p.m.: Officer responding to a complaint of loud noise found the area quiet on arrival; 800 block of Old County Road.
Non-injury vehicle accident, 4:26 p.m.: Officer responded to a report of a two-vehicle fender bender in the Bi-Mart parking lot and assisted parties with information exchange; 200 block of Wharf Street.
Suspicious conditions, 5:28 p.m.: Chetco Point Trail.
Fire, 5:34 p.m.: Brookings Fire unit responded to a report of a smoldering log on the north jetty.
Injury vehicle accident, 5:59 p.m.: Officers, medics and fire personnel responded to several reports of a two-vehicle traffic crash; possible injuries; near 1200 block of Chetco Avenue.
Lost property, 7:25 p.m.: Citizen lost cell phone in the area of 800 block of Chetco Avenue.
Fight, 6:02 p.m.: Call transferred to Curry County Sheriff’s Office; 97800 block of Crestline Loop.
Saturday, Aug. 10
Dispute/fight, 3:15 a.m.: Dispute in county transferred to Curry County Sheriff’s Office, 5 miles up North Bank Chetco River Road.
Water problem, 5:03 a.m.: 300 block of Spruce Drive.
Safety/traffic hazard, 7:12 a.m.: Chetco Ave. and Mill Beach Road.
Theft, 9:34 a.m.: 500 block of First Street.
Dispute/fight, 3:07 a.m.: Fifth and Easy streets.
Found property 4:16 p.m.: Turned in to Brookings Police Department, 800 block of Elk Drive.
Forgery/fraud/bad check 4:26 p.m.: 300 block of Fifth Street.
Suspicious conditions, 11:10 p.m.: Azalea Park, Old County Road.
Sunday, Aug. 11
Suspicious conditions, 4:54 p.m. Mill Beach.
Safety/traffic hazard, 7:44 p.m.: Highway 101 and North Bank Chetco River Road.
Traffic stop, 9:37 p.m.: Driver cited for driving uninsured at Dawson Road. Also warned for defective headlights and failure to register vehicle.
Loud noise, 10:55 p.m.: 1600 block of Highway 101.
Monday, Aug. 12
Suspicious conditions, 1:43 a.m.: 800 block of Elk Drive.
Found property, 8:44 a.m.: 1100 block of Chetco Avenue.
Child abuse, 9:43 a.m.: 1100 block of Chetco Avenue.
Safety/traffic hazard, 10:32 a.m.: 700 block of Chetco Avenue.
Theft, 11:43 a.m.: 400 block of Redwood Street.
Theft, 6:16 p.m.: 300 block of Fifth Street.
Suspicious conditions, 8:18 p.m.: 500 block of Hassett Street.
