Police Log April 9, 2014

Friday, April 4, 

Criminal mischief, 6:56 a.m.: A citizen reported all of her car tires had been slashed in the 700 block of Second Street. 

Suspicious condition, 11:15 a.m.: A person reported as suspicious was just waiting for the public transit bus in the 900 block of Chetco Avenue.

Non-injury vehicle accident, 6:54 p.m.: A male driver was cited for driving while suspended after crashing into a fence at the VFW Hall. 

Loud noise, 7:16 p.m.: 97900 block of Lively Lane. 

Harassment, 7:19 p.m.: A physical dispute between two men in front of the electronics department of Fred Meyer was reported. The instigator was cited for disorderly conduct and harassment.

Brookings police made six traffic stops, resulting in four citations. 

Saturday, April 5

Suspicious conditions, 2:48 a.m.: A suspicious man reportedly walking around the library was not located by responding officer. 

Transient information, 10:05 a.m.: A citizen had concerns about transients hanging around an empty house in the 800 block of North Second Street. The owner was contacted and changed the locks. 

Theft of services, 10:29 a.m.: The reported theft of services between a taxi driver and a citizen was resolved civilly. 

Field interview 1:14 p.m.: An officer talked to an adult male at Hampton Road and Easy Street whose driving privileges were suspended. He was warned not to be driving. 

Animal complaint, 5:53 p.m.: A small, friendly female, black and white collie/shepherd mix pup was found following children at Fern and Pacific Avenue. The dog had no tag except for a rabies tag. It was picked up by Curry County Animal Shelter, which will attempt to contact the owner. 

Disorderly conduct, 5:56 p.m.: An adult male was ordered to leave by a business owner and an officer after being disorderly inside a store in the 500 block of Chetco Avenue. 

Suspicious conditions, 7:54 p.m.: Employees at a business reported suspicious man sitting in their parking lot in the 1000 block of Chetco Avenue. Officers made contact and he moved along as requested. 

Suspicious conditions, 10:32 p.m.: The manager of a motel in the 400 block of Chetco Avenue was concerned about a man who kept skateboarding through the parking lot. Officer made contact with the man who was counseled not to go back to the business. 

Suspicious conditions, 10:17 p.m.: Police talked to an adult man who appeared to run from officer contact in the 97900 block of Chetco Avenue. He was just working late at a nearby business. 

Found property, 11:54 p.m.: 17200 block of South Passley Road.

Sunday, April 6 

Open door, 1:14 a.m.: Officers checked the interior of the high school after finding an open window. The building was cleared, and the window was secured. 

Fire, 9:48 a.m.: Brookings Fire and Rescue responded to a smoldering log on fire at Mill Beach. The fire was put out quickly. 

Fire, 11:42 a.m.: Harbor Fire units responded to the 98000 block of Gerlach Lane. 

Disorderly conduct, 5:49 p.m.: Harbor. 

Unauthorized use of a vehicle; 6:06 p.m.: 16300 block of Highway 101. 

Suspicious conditions, 6:20 p.m.: 800 block of Pioneer Road. 

Transient information, 7:11 p.m.: An adult male was ordered to leave a business in the 800 block of Chetco Avenue. 

Suspicious conditions, 7:41 p.m.: 500 block of Chetco Avenue. 

Fire, 7:56 p.m.: Harbor Fire units responded to a report of a possible beach fire in the 15300 block of Oceanview Drive and put out the fire.

Criminal trespass, 9:07 p.m.: An adult male was ordered to leave McDonald’s. 

Field interview, 9:56 p.m.: Police talked with five individuals near Mill Beach. All were warned for day use only.

Monday, April 7 

Suspicious conditions, 12:09 a.m.: A vehicle was located in the Azalea Park parking lot. The vehicle was unoccupied. 

Suspicious conditions, 9:43 a.m.: Harris Beach Rest Area. 

Criminal mischief, 10:18 a.m.: The Cove and Wharf Street. 

Disorderly conduct, 10:53 a.m.: 700 block of Chetco Avenue. 

Criminal mischief, 12:07 p.m.: South Bank Chetco River Road. 

Violation of restraining order 12:54 p.m.: 500 block of Ransom Avenue. 

Hazard, 4:06 p.m.: South Bank Chetco River Road. 

Warrant service, 7:54 p.m.: A woman in the 800 block of Chetco Avenue was transported to jail on a Curry County warrant.
