Coast Guard Log published Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009

Wednesday, Sept. 9

11:05 a.m.: U.S. Coast Guard Station Chetco River received a call that a pleasure craft was  disabled near Camel Rock. A 47-foot motor lifeboat was launched and towed the vessel to the Port of Brookings-Harbor.

1:20 p.m.: U.S. Coast Guard Station Chetco River received a call via a cell phone from the operator of a pleasure craft giving information that the boat was disabled between Goat Island and Twin Rocks. A 47-foot motor lifeboat responded, but the operator was able to restart the engine and the boat returned to Port of Brookings-Harbor under its own power. The motor lifeboat escorted pleasure craft back into Port of Brookings Harbor.

Thursday, Sept. 10

7:10 a.m.: U.S. Coast Guard Station Chetco River received a call via VHF channel 16 from a fishing vessel disabled 14 nautical miles West of Point St. George in California. A 47-foot motor lifeboat was launched and took the vessel in tow to the Port of Brookings-Harbor.

Sunday, Sept. 13

2 p.m.: U.S. Coast Guard Station Chetco River received a call via VHF channel 16 from a disabled fishing vessel 11 nautical miles west of Gold Beach. A 47-foot motor lifeboat was launched and towed the vessel to the Port of Brookings-Harbor.

2:51 p.m.: U.S. Coast Guard Station Chetco River was contacted by Group North Bend that the fishing vessel Hilma was disabled with reduction gear problems approximately 40 nautical miles from the Chetco River. A 47-foot motor lifeboat was launched and towed the vessel to the Port Brookings-Harbor.

Monday, Sept. 14

8:26 p.m.: U.S. Coast Guard Station Chetco River personnel noticed a pleasure craft in distress along the Chetco River south jetty. A 25-foot rescue boat was launched and towed it back to the boat ramp.
