Tuesday, Oct. 30
Juvenile problem, 9:38 a.m.: Middle school student left school angry before parents could pick him up, 500 block of Pacific Avenue.
Animal complaint., 10:20 a.m.: Caller upset about neighbor’s dog running at large, and defecating on his lawn. Dog owner was talked to, 700 block of Vista Ridge.
Assault, 11:39 a.m.: Father reporting assault by son while on a fishing trip. Information was relayed to county, 97800 block of Payne Road.
Fire 12:47 p.m.: A faulty sensor at location triggered the fire alarm, taken care of, fire units returned to station. 700 block of Chetco Avenue.
Traffic stop, 2:23 p.m.: Motorhome clipped the mirror of a parked car, driver was cited for careless driving, Chetco Avenue.
Suspicious conditions, 2:36 p.m.: Female reporting same truck that stalked her yesterday is doing so today as well, 1100 block of Chetco Avenue.
Lost subject, 2:41 p.m.: Possible missing hunter out of Del Norte County reported lost up Gardiner Ridge, bur returned on his own to his vehicle Wednesday, (Oct. 31) morning.
Safety/traffic hazard, 2:46 p.m.: Citizen reporting male riding horse south on 600 block of Chetco Avenue, and was concerned regarding traffic hazard. Sergeant responded and found subject riding on the shoulder, and not breaking any laws.
Theft, 3:28 p.m.: Citizen reported that someone had stolen one of his license plates, including the frame, 800 block of Hassett Street.
Fight, 3:57 p.m.: Parent was concerned with an adult yelling at her child; the adult said it was because the child was bullying her child. Resolved civilly, 600 block of Easy Street.
Alarm, 8:27 p.m.: Resident had smoke alarms going off and couldn’t get them to shut off, even after removing the batteries. Officer responded to location and assisted, 1400 block of View Court.
Strangulation, 9:28 p.m.: Female entered the lobby of the police department and inquired about a bathroom. She stated she and her boyfriend had just gotten into a physical altercation; she then left the police department and city units soon found female at a location on Ransom Avenue; male was gone on arrival but returned after officers left and harassed, menaced and attempted to strangle the female. Officers photographed the scene and later located and arrested suspect at a friend’s house.
Wednesday, Oct. 31
Tree down, 6:13 a.m.: Tree across southbound lane near milepost 335; Curry County Sheriff Office advised and ODOT responded to clear it out of the roadway.
Threats, 9:04 a.m.: Male at location threatening the owner of the residence. 98100 block of Gavin Lane.
Non-injury vehicle accident, 2:45 p.m.: Small fender bender on private property, no damage, information only, 16900 block of Old County Road.
Intoxicated subject, 3:30 p.m.: Report of an intoxicated driver. Unable to locate vehicle. Caller later called back to advise Brookings Police Department the driver was now on foot in the area, Highway 101, southbound.
Fight, 7:20 p.m.: Civil issue. Individuals were advised to seek legal counsel, 1600 block of Chetco Avenue.
Safety/traffic hazard, 9:19 p.m.: Report of a large tree across the road just past Loeb Park; advised Curry County Sheriff Office.
Abandoned vehicle, 9:48 p.m.: Vehicle hasn’t moved from location in several days. Will attempt to reach registered owners during day shift, 500 block of Chetco Avenue.
Illegal fireworks, 11:55 p.m.: Two calls of a single gunshot heard. An officer in the area, out of his vehicle, also heard the noise and advised it was a single illegal firework, South Hazel Lane.
Thursday, Nov. 1
Warning, 12:08 a.m.: Passenger in car warned about curfew, Chetco Point.
Intoxicated subject: 12:47 a.m.: Intoxicated passenger dropped off at residence via taxi. Caller was owner of residence and did not know who the subject was. Subject refused to leave and was counseled about disorderly conduct, 300 block of Railroad Avenue.
Suspicious conditions, 7:24 a.m.: Bicyclist concerned about male sitting on park bench, drinking and shouting at passersby. He was gone by the time police arrived on scene.
Traffic stop, 8:21 a.m.: Driver cited for not using seat belt, no proof of insurance, Fred Meyer parking lot.
Theft, 8:32 a.m.: Local business had theft of equipment from storage trailer, 800 block Chetco Avenue.
Animal complaint, 9:25 a.m.: Neighbor concerned his missing cats might be attacked by neighbor’s large dog. Dog does not belong there and will be removed by owner, 600 block Easy Street.
