Winslow W. Bangs, 82, Wedderburn, died Oct. 15, 2000.
He was born June 24, 1918, in Mountain View, Ark., to Arthur B. Bangs and Nora (Kendrick) Bangs.
He was raised and educated in Ophir, where he graduated from high school in 1937.
He married Leona Miller on Feb. 8, 1940, in Gold Beach. They made their home in Wedderburn and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling together.
He worked as a logger for many years. He was employed by South Coast Lumber Co. for 10 years until his retirement in 1977.
Survivors are his wife of 60 years Leona Bangs, Wedderburn; daughters Darnell Fletcher, White City; Carole Kasza, Lake Oswego; brother Elmer Dick Bangs, Reedsport; sisters Alma Johansen, Oklahoma City; Elizabeth Canaday, Pleasant Hill; great-grandson Christopher Marshall Glenn, Pueblo West, Colo.
Preceding him in death were his parents Arthur and Nora Bangs; sister Bonnie Coy; grandson Devin Fletcher and granddaughter Dalene Fletcher.
Memorial services are planned for Thursday, Oct, 19, at the First Presbyterian Church in Gold Beach. Pastor Ann Richards will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Scantlins Brookings Mortuary Chapel.
