William Ricketts Smith

William Ricketts Smith, 83, Eagle, Idaho, died Dec. 25, 2001, in Eagle.

He was a Brookings resident until moving to Eagle in 1999.

He was born Nov. 5, 1918, in Gillette, Wyo., to Maurice Warfield Smith and Ruby Valentine Fox.

He was raised in Lodge Grass, Mont., where he graduated high school in 1936.

He married Gertrude Trudy Helen Keithler April 14, 1942, in Sheridan, Wyo.

Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 698th Tank Maintenance Company.

He worked at Allis-Chambers Manufacturing and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors are wife, Trudy Smith, of Eagle; sons, William Keith Smith of Kennewick, Wash.; and John Raymond Smith of Eagle.

Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Dec. 28 at Willamette National Cemetery in Boise, Idaho.

A memorial service is planned for today (Dec. 29) at noon at the Latter-day Saints Chapel in Vancouver, Wash.

Arrangements are under the direction of Relyea Funeral Chapel, Boise.
