William J. “Bill” Hug

William J. “Bill” Hug of Pistol River Oregon passed away Oct. 31, 2013, at the age of 79.
Bill was born Aug. 1, 1934, to William and Helen (Reid) Hug in Newark, N.J., where he spent his childhood and young adult years.
Bill graduated from Seton Hall Preparatory, South Orange, N.J., and Seton Hall University School of Law, Class of 1964. He ranked fifth in academic excellence in a graduating class of 64.
His education was interrupted by serving two years, honorably, in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He operated the radio receiver site for the NATO installation in Izmir, Turkey, during his service.
He was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1965. He was a member of the American Bar Association and New Jersey Bar Association during practicing years.
His practice as an attorney included U.S. Department of Agriculture, Veterans Administration and Internal Revenue Service. Bill was a trial attorney in Workers Compensation for New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company, in Trenton, N.J., during the last 25 years of practice. He retired in 1996.
Bill resided in New Jersey until 2002, when he and his companion, Elizabeth Sinisgallo, drove cross-country and relocated to Pistol River, where he realized his dream of living in a beautiful environment.
He was a person with many interests including sailing, fishing, reading and socializing with his many friends. He became an avid gun enthusiast on the Oregon Coast .
In his final days, Bill continually expressed his love for his home and the climate on the southern coast of Oregon.
Bill will be remembered for his intelligence, his wit, his laughter and his unending generosity.
He passed from this life quickly on Oct. 31, at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford, from complications of heart disease.
He is survived by his life partner Elizabeth Sinisgallo; and brother Thomas Hug of Newark.
At his request, no memorial service is planned.
