William H. “Bill” Schaefer

Jan. 6, 1955-June 12, 2014

A lifelong resident of Brookings, William H. “Bill” Schaefer passed away unexpectedly June 12, 2014.

He was born Jan. 6, 1955, at Seaside Hospital in Crescent City.

Bill drove lowboy for Tidewater Contractors the past 29 years. He never married, and considered all his nieces, nephews, and cousins his children — and there were many.

Bill was an avid bowler and bowled four 300 games. He loved cribbage but, most of all, loved spending time with his family. He was loved and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include his mother Betty Schaefer, brother and sister-in-law Robert and Kerasia Schaefer, all of Brookings. Aunts and uncles include 2014 Azalea Festival Pioneer Citizens Cecil and June Hart of Harbor, Herbert and Jackie Schaefer of Brookings, Jim and Pat Campbell of Port Orford and Mildred Moss, formerly of Brookings, now of Post Falls, Idaho. Also surviving are many more relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father William Schaefer; and sister Brenda Austin.

A Celebration of Life will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Brookings Elks Lodge 1934, 800 Elk Drive, Brookings.

Submitted by the family.
