William Carpenter, 69, Gold Beach, died July 21, 2000.
He was born Nov. 29, 1930, in Middleton, Ohio to William and Rose (Agee) Carpenter.
When he was 15 years old, he moved with his parents to California, where he attended and graduated from Chaffe High School in Upland, Calif.
After graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956. After his discharge, he was employed with the U.S. Postal Service and retired in 1989.
He relocated to Gold Beach after his retirement.
He enjoyed many hobbies including remote control airplanes, attending air shows, car shows and building hot rod cars.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Erick and Mary Carpenter, Myrtle Point; Jon and Debbie Carpenter, Washington; Billy Carpenter, Eureka, Calif.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his sister Mildred.
Memorial services are scheduled for today (July 26) at 10 a.m. at Scantlins Gold Beach Mortuary Chapel, 94120 Moore St.
Rev. Lawrence Limbeck is scheduled to officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Scantlins Gold Beach Mortuary and Chapel.
