William Bill Francis Jones, 88, Brookings, died Jan. 12, 2001, in Crescent City.
He was born May 14, 1912, in Elkins, W. Va., to Grover Jones and Grace Kittle.
He was raised and educated in Elkins.
Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was at Pearl Harbor during the Japanese attack.
He was awarded the American Defense Ribbon with one bronze star.
He married Ruth Leon Dunlap April 30, 1962, in Long Beach, Calif.
Mr. Jones worked at Rockwell International Aerospace until his retirement in 1976.
He and his wife moved to Brookings in 1990 from Hemet, Calif. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors are his wife, Brookings; step-son Carl Peters, Ramah, N.M.
Also surviving are three brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.
No services are planned. He was inured at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.
