Wesley G. Moorhead, 71, of Brookings, passed away July 10, 2012 in Medford, after a battle with cancer. Wes was born June 7, 1941, in Fairfield, Calif., the only child of Wesley A. and Sybil (Wilson) Moorhead.
He grew up in various towns in the Sacramento area. Wes entered the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He completed two tours in Vietnam, and earned three Bronze Stars for his service.
He later served in the National Guard, retiring as a captain in 1995. During his military service, Wes attended college and earned a master’s degree from the University of Colorado.
He married Malynn Cox Aug. 12, 1978, in Folsom, Calif.
Following his retirement from the military, Wes worked as a forklift operator for Blue Diamond Growers. He and Malynn moved to Brookings in August of 2010.
Wes enjoyed reading, investing in the stock market, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Brookings chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America.
Survivors include his wife Malynn Moorhead of Brookings; daughter Jamie Thompson, her husband Mike and their children Bobbie Jo, Allyn and Lilly of Sacramento; sister-in-law Corby Cox of Sacramento.
Wes was preceded in death by his son Kelly in 1979.
