Viola "Penny" May Lee Keefe, 85, Brookings, died Saturday, Aug. 24, of natural causes.
She was born Oct. 11, 1916, in Wales, N.D., to John and Christena (Kartes) Johnson.
She was raised and educated in Wales.
She was employed most of her adult life as a jewelry buyer for Slaviks Jewelry in California.
On Sept. 12, 1972, she married Donald Keefe in Honolulu.
She was a member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church and belonged to the Altar Society. She enjoyed travel, golf and entertaining.
Survivors include sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson of Phoenix Ariz.; nieces, Jean Elwiss of Olympia, Wash.; Margie and husband Willy Benson of Meade, Wash.; Tena and husband Dennis Hilleren of Glendale, Ariz.; nephew, Vern Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, children Kip Lee and Lana Hansen, brothers Leslie, Vernon J. and Floyd Johnson.
Memorial donations may be made to Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 820 Old County Road., Brookings OR 97415.

Services will be at Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002 and a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Rev. Edmund K. Ryan will officiate.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Redwood Memorial Chapel.
