Vernon C. Clow Jr., of Brookings, passed away June 16, 2013, in Crescent City, following a lengthy illness. He was 69.
Vernon was born June 10, 1944, in Vacaville, Calif., to Vernon Sr. and Tressie (Jones) Clow.
He was raised in Australia, but returned to the U.S. in his late teens. Vernon then began what would be a more than 35 year career as a crane operator — an occupation he truly loved.
Vernon married Donna Pendleton Jan. 11, 1964, in Reno, Nev.
The couple enjoyed traveling in their retirement but eventually settled in Brookings in 2012. Vernon was a God-fearing husband, father and grandfather who loved not only his family, but his extended church family.
Survivors include Donna, his wife of 49 years, of Brookings; daughter and son-in-law Roxana and Marty Rice and their children Josh, his wife Jessica and their daughter Madeline and their son James and his wife Melodi; son Vernon C. Clow III and his children Charles and Brooklyn.
A memorial service was held.
