Swiyyah Ranson, 53, Brookings, died March 3, 2002, at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford.

She was born June 23, 1948, in Hutchinson, Kan.

She moved to Brookings eight years ago from Washington.

She was involved with Oasis House and the Humane Society.

Survivors include her significant other, Georgine Paulin of Harbor; daughter, Ashanti Ranson of Visalia, Calif.; sister, Sherry Patotzka of Gold Beach.

Also surviving is her grandson, Damaris Ranson.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

A service will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to South Coast Humane Society, P.O. Box 7833, Brookings, OR 97415 and Oasis House, P.O. Box 932, Gold Beach, OR 97444.

Arrangements under the direction of Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory.
