Steven Clifford Wilson, 53, Smith River, died June 24, 2000, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born Dec. 10, 1946, in Centralia, Wash.
He was a Del Norte County resident for the past 20 years. He attended Del Norte High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War.
Prior to his illness, he was a self-employed excavator and truck driver for more than 20 years.
Survivors are wife Linda Crockett Wilson, Smith River; stepchildren David and Cindy Veilleux, Smith River; mother Dorothy Wilson, Weaverville, Calif.; sisters Diane Kertulla, Hiouchi; Joan Sharp, Wendover, Calif.; Beverly Ringe, Central Point; brothers Christian Wilson, Salyer, Calif.; Kirk Wilson, Crescent City.
He was preceded in death by his father Clifford Lloyd Wilson.
Memorial services are planned for today (June 28) at 1 p.m. at the Smith River Methodist Church.
Private interment will be in the Smith River District Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wiers Mortuary Chapel in Crescent City.
