Stanley Pat Patterson, 84, Brookings, died Thursday, March 15, 2002, at Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City.
He was born Nov. 22, 1917, in Cherokee, Iowa, to John and Nellie Patterson.
He was married to Marjorie Lucile Walker for 62 years.
Mr. Patterson worked at the Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois until the end of World War II.
In November 1945 he moved to Brookings where he worked at Brookings Market (which later became Dimmicks Market) for several years.
Later, he was a share holder in Brookings Plywood from which he retired in 1982.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, stained glass, and barber shop singing with a quartet and the Coastal-Aires Chorus.
Mr. Patterson was a member of the Chetco Grange, Elks Lodge, Sea Gulls RV Club, a charter member of the Chetco Federal Credit Union for 28 years and president for 25 of those years.
He was also a charter member of the Brookings Harbor Rotary, and a member of the Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Brookings; daughter, Patricia L. Gonzalez of Medford; brother, Donald Patterson, of Cherokee, Iowa; grandchildren, Gary Gonzalez of Eugene; Lisa Gonzalez of Medford; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 21, at 11 a.m. in the Brookings Presbyterian Church. Dr. Warren Muller will officiate.
